I'm arriving by 1600 on Friday and will be looking to ride. An 1800 start time sounds good to me, because I'll want to get the campsite setup for the family.

Don't know about that. Here at sea level the air up there is going to be mighty thin... unless the humidity shows up (it will), in which case you can just wave you arms above your head, kick your feet a bit, and swim up to the clouds.

Ha, if you're looking for excuses I've found one for you. I imagine the nice summer weather in the SE will be a rude wake-up call. I went on a ride Wed., 92 degrees, 50% humidity. That drained me with the quickness. I was so spent I felt like it was my first day of single track all over again. I didn't have a clean moisture wicking shirt to wear, so the t-shirt I was wearing got about a foot longer and weighed about 5lbs after that ride. To add insult to injury there were nice, cool, scattered rain showers... everywhere except the trail.

Maybe it wasn't the weather, the guys I went out with showed me what athleticism was... meanwhile at one point I was ready for a chopper lift out of there. I do not mix with heat, definitely in the wrong state for summer muni.

Good decision. I had to hang in there with my 29er for a while, now it's my preferred uni.

Still too far out to know exactly when I plan to arrive, but I should be there for a 6:00PM ride.

Well crap! A uni meet in my back yard and I'm gonna be out of town. I sponsored one about 5 years ago not far from there at my mountain property. Only 3 of us ended up riding.

Rats! I hope one this close happens again sometime.

I'm afraid I will not be able to make it this weekend. I'm still working through the hip pain issues that I mentioned earlier. Hopefully with some stretching the issue will clear up in time for the Asheville Muni Fest.

Enjoy.

It's getting close, so start packing the gear, bring the biggest ice chest you have, we got a scorcher in the works!!

I've been riding in this heat, it's tough, but it's totally doable if you hydrate and take breaks.

We should probably plan to ride as early as possible on Sat/Sun (8am?), then break during the mid day heat, then ride later in afternoon before the humidity rises.

There is a slight chance I won't arrive until Friday night, it depends on if my wife can get a school related test changed to a different date.

@Minimalist: Sorry your hip is a pain, I feel for ya, my back is really limiting what I can do these days, so I try to take days off and eat Vitamin I like it's candy.

Sorry I'm not able to get there in time. I would be driving 8 hours to be 3 1/2 hours away then have to get up really early to drive the additional 3 1/2 hours for the 8am ride, it's just too much driving for the short time I'd have. I hope to ride with you all at some point. Have a great time.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't do it either.

Ally, you need a co pilot!

Is there anyone who else interested from your neck of the woods?

Ally,

What about Buzz? Can we put some pressure on him?

I see my name on the list, I was always a 'maybe' at best, and am now a doubtful.

Not yet a NO, but doubtful.

Hopefully it will yet work out (various interfering schedules).

I should be there before the Sat. 8AM ride.

I would love to see others ride 36ers just as good as the 24inch on these trails. That will be a blast. Do some things that should not be done on 36ers.

Personally, I want to put the "gas pedal all the way to floor" while riding some downhills.

BTW, I will have a pair of Nimbus 165 ISIS cranks for sale if anyone is interested.

Maybe not exactly like a 24, but in some ways better, it's a hard sized wheel to manage in some terrain, but it really covers ground and bridges obstacles awesome, so where a 24 is hopping, a 36er is rolling

See ya all tomorrow afternoon.

FYI, Knoxuni has a Nimbus 24 muni for sale. I can bring it with me, BUT I won't bring it unless someone has made a deal to buy it; my car is full of gear.

I am bring my KH 26 with Oracle disc hub, it will be for sale
