Has anyone actually tried a unicycle with 24 spoke wheels? With an incredibly stiff rim (carbon), I'm thinking it might actually be feasable. Some road disc wheels come stock with 20 spokes and between their high speed descents and small road imperfections, I would be surprised if those wheels do not experience more force in every direction.

QX used to sell 20 and 24H hubs. I have one of the latter; it does fine laced 2x to a cheap Shining 650c rim.

Wow, I've seen saskatchewanian's collapsible 36 while trawling the forum but never realized he sold it, or built it up with 24 spokes. I guess if it is strong enough for a 36, it should be more than strong enough on a 27.5!

Custom Unicycle

I just posted this on Antique Unicycle thread, but I thought I would show it here as well.

This was my latest unicycle project.

I don't know why it's coming out sideways.

A 50's tricycle that was converted to a unicycle inspired me to build this.

If anyone knows how to turn the photo correctly, please let me know.

I've had that happen too. I'm trying to reconstruct from memory how it goes and I might not have every detail right, but more or less if I take a picture using my phone vertically oriented ("portrait format"), the phone actually stores the picture landscape-style but puts a tag in the file that means, "Rotate 90 degrees to view correctly." It looks ok when I view it locally, but the forum software doesn't handle it right.

I fix this using GIMP, the free photo editor. Other programs likely can do this too. When I open the file it says something like, "This picture should be rotated 90 degrees. Would you like to do that now?" I say yes, and when I re-save it, it's stored correctly without that tag and it loads correctly here.

Like I said, that's from memory but maybe it helps to put you on the path.

Really nice work with the unicycle project too!
