That's a KENDA Kikzumbut 20" white tyre. Not listed on UDC but apparently its really good for freestyle and indoors. I think the tread looks good, not to deep, but not bald either

Progress has been a bit non-existent due to the cold weather, kindof hard to get out and practice due to the wet ground and cold nights (Night time is the only time I have to practice thanks to my busy work schedule) It's killing me not being able to get out there and practice.

No real progress since my last update, still just making my way back and forth along the fence. Feeling more confident and daring as I do it though, which I think is a good sign

So after quite some time not practising, I finally got back on the uni today. Was a little shaky at first, but I took it outside and lined up next to the fence.

A few laps holding onto the fence and I started feeling a bit better, able to let go of the fence for short intervals of a meter or so at a time, then the fence ran out, and I had nothing to hold on to. At first this was disastrous, but after a few attempts, I managed to go 2, then 3 and later 6 meters on my own!!!

OMGWOWZARZ! I still don't make it far, but the buzz I got from going that short distance unaided was incredible! I can't wait for tomorrow!

Not posting very often as my computer is fried, but here is another update; I'l keep it quick.

I mentioned the buzz from getting 6 meters in my last post, so you can imagine the buzz I got from more than doubling that figure.

Problem is, I did it twice reaching 12-15m, but now am struggling again. My question is:

Can the stress from a few things (I won't go into details) that have been playing on me the last few days be detrimental to my progress? I thought I would have found it as a way of escaping the stress, but my lack of focus is really stunting my progress. I'm back to the point of barely making 2m.

Maybe I am overthinking it, just need to put it out of my mind. A bit more practice this weekend I'm sure is all I need and I will be riding off into the sunset, then around the corner, to the stop sign and back again.

The moment unicycling becomes more important than anything else in your fucked up life, it will liberate you and provide the desired escape.

It won't solve your problems, though.

Dial back the language just a notch or two if you don't mind Kamikaze. We'd like parents to be happy to leave their young, unicycling children to browse this forum and words like that might cause certain pieces of "Nanny-Software" to stop the kids from being able to access this site..
Thanx.

JP, I think you've asked and answered your questions there.
In any learning process there are going to be periods of development and periods of plateauing.
You may sometimes even experience a bit of regression.

All part of the joy.

Focus on the basics, make sure you keep your weight on the seat and make sure you keep looking at the horizon and not down on the ground.
That might explain the 12m to 2m regression you're showing as well.

Don't worry. It probably means you'll have a breakthough soon. You are over thinking it. Just keep practicing.

Hi Jeffery Paul,

Just a note about my own frustrating experience when I was just "getting the hang of it."

After about 3 weeks, I was doing about 25 feet indoors. That very evening I decided to lower the saddle, because I read somewhere about the "ideal seat height." The next day I could NOT ride the thing at all. I didn't realize the problem was probably the lower seat. Talk about frustrating. That's the day I just "went for it" and slipped, jamming my wrist pretty badly.

Just something to think about.

Keep up the good work.

I'm good, thanx milkman.
Getting thru the Monday morning, trying not to be too productive.
I'd hate to set the bar for the week too high.

What do you do for a living?
