Semi New Rider from Baldwin/Stony Brook University

Hey guys, so I stumbled on this site while procrastinating/ looking up unicycle stuff, and I've read through it so often that I decided to register. Excuse me if I ramble or talk all over the place; all nighters do that to me, haha.
So my name is Kevin, I'm from Baldwin Ny, but I'm currently at Stony Brook University. I started unicycling a few months ago; it started as a joke that turned into an amazon search which left me 60 bucks lighter with a cheap 20'' unicycle. I tried it a few times could stay on for a few feet, then just fall.
a few weeks ago I picked it up again and I've gotten to the point where I can ride it around campus, which is a bit of a workout, the wheel feels tiny getting around, especially after getting used to a mountain bike. (btw, the reactions i get are awesome)

I stumbled on this site while looking for info on unicycles with bigger wheels; what are your opinions on a 29 inch wheel unicycle. I know you get what you pay for in terms of quality, but I can't afford much (being a jobless college student is not good on the wallet). What do you guys think of this unicycle?

Welcome.

That uni will work just fine for general commuting. Try not to take it off anything higher than a curb due to its single wall wheel though.

Is this one any better? After shipping is all said and done, it isn't much more expensive

Or how about the Sun 28; I've read some positives and negatives about it, at 99 bucks with free shipping its the cheapest by far; is it as fragile as some say it is in terms of basic riding?

So to sum it up for everyone else, i'm torn between the Sun 28 (99 dollars), Trainer 29 (160 after shipping and taxes) And possibly the Sun 29 which is actually close to 200 dollars.
The more I look at it, the more I just want to save up for a Nimbus or something worth while...

Over all, you would be much better off saving for the Nimbus. The old addage of you get what you pay for is usually pretty accurate when dealing with unicycles. Most lower priced uni's are priced that way for a reason. They will have lighter duty frames & bearing mounts, single wall wheels, possibly less spoke count, and for sure, poorer quality seats.

Keep riding what you have and save up, you will probably be much happier in the end.

I asked the same question last year. I ended up getting the Nimbus 29, and I haven't looked back. It's a nice unicycle -- sturdy and it comes with a decent seat. I'll last forever.
