helmet = bad hair day! Any remedies?

I'm sure this will make me sound like a wimp... but... I want to know if anyone has a suggestion for wearing a helmet without smashing your hair. I have healthy hair that doesn't need washing every day, but if I smash it with a helmet, then it looks awful until I wash it again. Does anyone have a tip for wearing a helmet without totally messing up your hair? Are some helmets better for that than others, or am I asking such ridiculous question that you are all LOL now? I am not in the habit of wearing a helmet for anything and am having to get used to the idea of wearing one. Also, what other things should I consider when buying a helmet? Right now I have a really cheap one.

Don't wear a helmet.

I got my head shaved for a cancer research fundraiser. We raised about $26,000. It was worth the loss of hair AND I don't have to worry about helmet head for awhile. Now I'm the "crazy, bald lady that rides a unicycle."

you always have helmet hair

I couldn't really wear a helmet when I had dreads, made my head too big and prevented the helmet from fitting properly.

The dreads themselves made pretty good shock absorbers though.

Yeah, but then you can get helmet tan lines, which also look strange.

I don't know about you guys, but generally whenever I do cycling that involves a helmet (I don't ride motorcycles anymore), I'm due for a shower afterwards. If that isn't convenient, sticking your head in a bucket of water seems to help.

Yes, very true, but I wouldn't necessarily have to wash my hair! Maybe when I get to a point where I can ride more than 800ft, the whole question will seen ridiculous. Yep... It's starting to sound pretty ridiculous already.

Guess I was just wishful thinking.
Thanks!

my dreads aren't super thick or anything. And I got a helmet after I got dreads, so mine fits great
