I considered selling my MTB to get some more muni machine stuff, but I know I'd end up wanting to ride with someone else. Maybe in another year or 2 when I see how I hold up against bikers I will make my decision

I still have my last bike, A Miyata Triplecross that I got in 1989 or so.
It has cobwebs on it. It's a hybrid, which means it's a lousy mountain bike and a lousy road bike. For a short while it was an excellent ride-to-work bike, but then I got the Coker and that was it.

I hate to say it, but I'm pretty confident you'll regret it one day.

Groovy!

Have to agree with Thieum on this.
I reckon you're still going through the honeymoon stage with your uni. I got rid of my b*ke about a year and a half ago. Huge mistake, and I regretted it immediately. Sure, it'll be fun to take the uni to Brechfa or Afan. But when you're there, I guarantee this thought will enter your head at least once; "Man, I wish I could go faster."

I love to uni. But I still love to bike also. I still have friends that I ride MTN and road bikes with who absolutely refuse to even consider the uni. Three days a week I ride with them. The other 4 are mine to uni. Yesterday I MTN biked in the a.m. and unied in the afternoon (legs rubbery today!). Variety is the spice of life.

I would also agree with thieum, blue and tsyessny. IMO a unicycle is no substitute bike, it's a completely different thing.
I am actually considering buying an MTB for my local trails simply because I miss the speed and efficiency of a bike. But this doesn't mean I will stop unicycling, I will still ride my 36er places, and do trials on my 20".

I had a $2000 full suspension MTN bike. After 3 years of riding, I snapped the frame, but only after replacing 2 rear derailures, 2 blown air shocks, several pivot bearings and numerous other multi-speed suspended bike parts. Now I ride a $300 single-speed, rigid, steel frame 29er. I can ride it anywhere I rode the expensive full-suspension bike (a little slower) and only change the chain every year.
Now I'm down to a unicycle. If I continue to simplify things, by next year I'll be running around the woods in a loin cloth and flip-flops. |

You tend to regret the things you don't do.

But I never ride it. We do have a Trek tandem that we also don't ride. Frame is tall for both captain and stoker. Any takers?

Trials & Muni!
|
I bought a $700 MTB before I got my Trials uni, I was riding it almost everyday. In the last 3 years, I rode it like 2-3 times per season, and this is only because my friend wants me to go MTBing with him. I have a super ghetto fixed gear to go to school with, I also have a cheap Trials bike I use sometimes. Sometimes I just think I should sell all of them to buy a Schlumpf hub for one of my Uni

Do you have near substitute for that bike? Like a 36er? Cos that 20" is gonna be wayyy slow.
