Indiana Unicyclists

I've heard rumors about other unicyclists in the area but never seen another unicyclist. Anybody here ride around the southwestern tip of Indiana? There are a lot of sweet trails (both paved and dirt) around the (Uni)versity of Southern Indiana if anybody is interested. There is something right about being on one wheel alone but I think it would be awesome to ride with somebody.

I don't know about southern IN unicyclists, but at least two or three of the northeast IN unicyclists are hoping to do a southern Indiana muni weekend really soon now.

I went on an adventure around USI the other day on the new trial they paved that (allegedly) links the campus with a nearby water-park/BMX track. I have yet to make it the full distance because the nice paved trail turns into a very poorly maintained oil service road paved with gravel. Somebody with more uni experience myself may be able to take this.

I was unable to find anyone to ride with when I visited Indianapolis last year. Maybe it didn't help that I was out riding on one of the hottest days of the year?

Anyhow, the riverfront trails near downtown along the canal and riverfront were pretty nice.
Good luck finding others to ride with.

uniShark: I've only noticed one person listing their location as close to Indy, though I did see a nice titanium uni there a couple years ago. There are at least 9 in Fort Wayne (2 or so hours north of Indy), several in Muncie (at Ball State, an hour or so north of Indy), and several in Kokomo. Then there are also a bunch of people I've met who claim to unicycle, but I've never seen them ride...

I found some old references to a ballet instructor who rode a 36er in Indy, but couldn't track him down before my trip. I might go to GenCon again in 2012; if so I'll give a shout.

There are more unicyclists in Fort Wayne than I knew. While riding the local mountain bike trail today, my brother and I ran into another rider. He said there are two more who ride there too. Cool.

Well, this doesn't help shadymilkman and others at the opposite end of the state, but I'm trying to get a group going in Fort Wayne. So far there are three of us doing weekly rides.

Owensboro KY (less than an hour from Evansville, IN) has a nice 12.5 mile GreenBelt. Louisville is slowly getting in on the action with the 95% funded, 35% complete, 100 mile loop. Look me up if you find yourself this far south. I got two 36ers.
