Hi one and all . . . I'm having some problems with the last bit of the route. I'm not familiar with Brighton and its topography. Anyone out there with any idea's on the best way in (not using the main roads) and familliar with mapping routes? Paul suggested coming in from the west. Any, and all help much appreciated.

Need to get this sorted ASAP.

P.S. Here's to the the Mountain Mayhem bunch, may you legs stay strong and the mud not stick (to much!) .

Hi - This might help sort a good route maybe - on Google I typed in "london to brighton alternative route" and it came up with quite a few guys who apparently know the area and have already sorted some good alternative routes that work well for cycles etc. Might be worth looking at maybe. Regards - Rob - Likwidart.

their own risk.
Well life played its part quite nicely actually and presented us with a beautiful boy 1 1/2 weeks early, who will be only too proud one day to say that his father cycled from London to Brighton on a 36er.

Plus the net being what it is I'm sure he'll Google (or whatever the cool net indexing method du jour is 10 or so years hence) me and read this message. So Braxton Kolodny Shapps, this is your father speaking. Leave your unicycle alone and finish your homework.

Fantastic . . . Congratulations to you and yours, and welcome to the forum Braxton (and do what your father says ).

P.S. Ben, I would have come along to Mountain Mayhem, but my wife had taken her staff away so I had to look after my boys. Any Pics?

Hi Everyone,

I have just put up a Just Giving webpage and donate if you feel you can.

I have supported Rett UK for years as I have a neice who has Rett and I have seen at first hand what this charity does for the families and carers of Rett Children.

Roger

Hi, just one week to go!

I have also decided to raise money for charity through doing this ride, my chosen charity is Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of my wife's mum Val, who sadly died three weeks ago of this disease. Here's my JustGiving page.

I just realised today that I don't know what the start time or location is, or the planned route? I do realise it may be lurking in the thread and I've looked a bit but don't have time to read the whole thing, can someone please PM me the details?

A plan:
I have marked out a provisional route on a Google Map which you can view at this link:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msi...47497,2.469177

This is based on Tom's previously posted TFL route planner suggestion for getting out of London on easiest roads (with a few tweaks where I thought it was just taking too many silly turns). After that it is what I thought looked sensible from looking at Google Maps and Streetview.

If you have experience of these roads, or know any better, please chip in! I have marked on several rest stops (about every 10 miles) for us to regroup - mostly at something that looked like a pub, in case any beverage / facilities are needed. It ends up in Brighton at the pier - is this where we want to end up?

If anyone wants to help modify the route I will happily add you as a collaborator on the Google Map - PM me.

I suggest we all have a print out of the route (as it ends up at the end of the week) so that if we get separated at any stage we can more easily find each other again.

Suggested start time: 7.30am (meet 7.15 at Clapham Common, Windmill pub carpark).

There, now we have a plan!

Sam

Being brilliant at getting lost I was a bit concerned about the route. Thank's for putting this together!
