There must be some sort of stair stepping, wheel walking, uni transfer routine in there somewhere.

JohnFoss - Just noticed the chrome one with a handlebar in place of the seat. What a tiring little monkey ride that must be!

I'll try to get a pic together soon....

That's an Oxford; a Japanese unicycle from the 70s. USA founder Bill Jenack used to sell them out of his garage. That one was assembled from loose parts in the Jenack garage and attic after he died (1982). I hope to have it in a museum someday, with a collection of Bill Jenack's photos and a story about him.

The wheel insert is a cardboard thing that Bill's youth unicycling group, the Jenack Cycles, used to use in their shows. When the wheel spins, it makes a cool pattern. I have some "new" ones still in the package, for if that uni ever makes it into a museum. They're buried in my garage, but I think the product name was "Bicyclones".

Monkey ride? Uh, monkey ride? I'm trying to figure out if I've just been compared to a clown or circus performer...

Anyway, that one is a Miyata 20" with some BMX handlebars on it. Mostly you push it from a regular unicycle, but eventually you jump from the regular uni onto it, and ride it around a bit (in a show). I always wanted to learn to jump over the handlebar and land my feet back on the pedals in front, but then my old handlebar uni died and I got something with much higher handlebars...

Only one of them is spamming the whole forum. It's sad.

I wasn't insinuating that at all... Just think it would make for a funky little motion. So yeah, "tiring little monkey ride". Not sure of the proper term for this in English or Pig Latin.

Don't let it rub you wrong. I am a fan of the little device.

you know you can also take the frame off a bmx bike, and have an impossible wheel with handlebars.... with pegs of course

You would have to replace the steering tube to hold the stem and forks together. Didn't somebody have something like that around here?

Having to pedal while holding on to that thing changes everything I'm sure. Try to keep a hot pizza on your back at the same time and man oh man I should shut up.

In the back you can see my Coker and 45" wheel. My ultimate wheel was custom cut with two "Uni-Cyclone" shapes cut out of it. The third picture shows the giraffes: Schwinn, a custom 5', and a Unicycle Factory 9' with articulated step. The step makes it possible to freemount the thing, though I haven't attempted that in many years.
This is John Foss, wearing his last pair of clean clothes, 3 years ago, before abandoning access to his washer, under a growing clutter of unicycles.

Despite the fact that many of the unicycles are more painful to ride than to look at , and some are also unhealthy, he cannot discard them.

His house is now now unlivable. The stench of ageing rubber and greased metal permeates the place like a motorcycle shop. John claims not to notice.

Over the years, his friends dwindled off. Family stopped coming unless they could be on TV. . But when even the trials riders weren't able to make it to the front door, he is forced to admit he sometimes has to walk himself. We are here to help him.

Next episode of "hoarders" , John Foss.

Me and my fleet

Finally got a free minute to pull the toys out for a shot. These all get used.

Not pictured are a couple of 20" BMX frames and a 29" BMX bike known as 'Big Ripper'. These items are all new in box.

Also not pictured are my wife's bikes. We have a crowded garage but not to the John Foss level by any stretch.

After seeing John Foss's photos, Im almost ashamed to be posting on this thread.

Lidl special - for training newbies
Trials/Street
20 year old Sem 26
Nimbus Muni 26
Giraffe (Pic out of date, now have a Nimbus performer)

Next maybe a 12" with extra long seat post and/or a 36 - not sure whether I would have time to ride them all - so maybe, for me, 5 is enough........
