Guitar loop pedal for use on live vocals (spoken word)
I know there has to be someone on here who can assist me, being the eclectic bunch we are.
I guess to put down some history, I do stand-up comedy quite regularly and I often muck around with pre-recorded things and such, i work mainly with fictitious stories and one liners.. OK, now I really want a set up that will allow me to record live and then replay later on in the show. Say, as a really basic example, record a punchline which works so if a joke dies i can loop the old, successful, line back. I know there are guitar pedals that do this, but how do they work? how affective are they? can i record several bits and then cycle through them? Or can you recommend anything else? I want to be able to do it live on stage. i have mucked around with a pedal and a guitar before, playing bass line, looping it and then playing over the top of it, that's what gave me the idea. Thank you, Tom

Go for the Digitech Jamman Stereo. It has the XLR input youd want for your mic. You can easily record your punclines and whatever, loop that, save it to a preset, dub over it, all within a click or two of the pedals.
I think stock they already have 99 presets, which youll probably never use, but have a good line on preset one, you can just scroll to it, play it back and stop it, another line can be on preset 2 and so on. There are also a few other companies making looping pedals, Boss has some good stuff, but id pick the Digitech over the Boss. They do have a learning curve, but its not big, so just an afternoon with the pedal and youll know it. Digitech also has the jamman solo, which could still work, but its a little limited, specially in the control aspect of changing presets and whatnot, which on stage, you dont want to fumble. |

thanks for the reply Jerrick, I actually had you in mind whilst typing the thread.
That seems to be what i am after. At the moment i know nothing at all about them. An opportunity has arose where i can get one of these quite cheap BOSS Rc2 would this be appropriate to start off with. I am not really sure what i am looking for, but it seems to have the functions I need.

That should work fine, specially if you can get a good deal on it. Most of the smaller loop pedals like that are going to be pretty identical except a few small changes and options here and there.
Id go for it. |

Thanks for your help jerrick. I am going to give the boss a go and if it is succesfull enough i will upgrade.
I should be able to get some footage up towards the end of the year once all the kinks are iron out.
