1998 Midwest Regional Unicycle Convention Minneapolis, Minnesota

When: Sat, May 2, 1998 (Less then a month away)

Where: Jenny Lind Elementary in North Minneapolis (directions below)

Cost: $4 for an individual, and $10 for a family (this helps defray the cost of
renting the space)

Who should attend: Everybody who can ride a unicycle and even if you cant ride a
unicycle, we need volunteers to help run events and judge routines.

What events will be held: Racing, Standard Skill, Individual Freestyle, Pairs
Freestyle, Hockey and lots of free time to practice.

Why should I attend? If you are new to unicycling or can't go to Nationals this
year this will allow you to participate in an informal competition. You will be
able to demonstrate your skill in an individual and/or pairs routine. Also, you
will be watching the routines of riders who will be competing at the 98
Nationals in California. If you're going to Nationals, this is a great chance to
try out some of the new moves in front of a live audience. Regionals will be a
great chance to get people together from the Metro area and the surrounding
states that have the common interest in unicycling

Are there ribbons? Ribbons will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Age Groups: Age groups will be based on the riders current skill level. That
means unicyclists will only be competing with people their own ability. The
actual breakdown of the age group will be based on the number of people
participating.

Schedule of events:
613:00 - 9:30 Setup
614:30 - 12:00 Races (Most will be fun and challenging races that fit in the
gym)
615:00 - 1:00 Lunch break (During lunch we will be splitting the big gym in half
so while the routines are going on, people can practice)
616:00 - 2:00 Standard Skill Workshop (we will help you put a Standard Skill
routine together)
617:00 - 3:00 Standard Skill Competition (since most people will have just put
their Standard Skill Routine together in the last hour someone will read off
the skills for the competitors and there would be no time
limit)
3:00 - 4:30 Individual Freestyle (Time limits will be 2 minutes for younger
kids, 3 minutes for older riders, and 4 minutes for the experts. Routines do
not have to go to the max. time limit; they can be as short as you want. It
is recommended if you have music for your routine.)
4:30 - 5:30 Pairs (Same as Individual Freestyle except with two people)
5:30 - 6:00 Awards
6:00 - 7:00 Freetime (or buffer time in case something goes behind schedule)
7:00 - 8:00 Unicycle Hockey
