Greetings Trialtrial.
Your question is a little vague, I suspect English is not your first language? Generally speaking you won't find people riding off-road with anything smaller than a 24. For smooth roads thru the mountains, people are riding anything up to 36" wheels. For more technical riding, over rocks and so on, 24 and 26 are probably your most popular sizes. Exactly what kind of riding are you looking at doing? Welcome to the forum! |

My advice would be a 36 with moderate length cranks (150-125mm) depending on riding style and terrain. Adding a break will help a lot on the downhills taking some pressure off your legs.
A 29 with shorter cranks would be another option. If you have the money you could add a schlumph hub which would really add to the versatility. You might also want to check out the french unicycling forums at http://www.monocycle.info/forums/ Good luck with your trip! ERIC

Yes, 36 , suck le blur
OK, my french sucks, just trying to make you feel at home.
Riding 120 km on a 36 in one day, in the mountains, would be an amazing feat of a great athlete. Even with the best of gear. The KH 36 with magura brakes and geared hub is the best stuff I know of. You will need it if you are serious.

If the geared hub is too expensive (like it is for me) then the KH 29 with the two holed cranks might work well enough. Brakes would be good either way. Remember that the fatter tires equate to a larger diameter than 24 or 26 inches. My 26 is more like a 28. Isn't the 29 on a 700 wheel?
