Well, the person I know that you're describing IS an idiot, but not for that reason.

His kids have been around guns for all of their lives, so they have no problems handling them safely.

Basically the words, his own, paint him as an unrepentant pedophile, whether or not they are true. Men his age at the time have absolutely no business having sex with 13 year olds, let alone exacerbating the act by giving them drugs and alcohol.

And the judge changed his mind after a photo of Polanski in Europe was published showing him surrounded by underage young girls. The judge may or may not have been influenced to change his mind by someone who suggested that Polanski was essentially giving him the finger by having the photo published.

I will admit to being biased by the fact that I'm the father of a 15 year old girl, but I wouldn't be adverse to Polanski serving a little time.

Technically, most definitions of pedophiles refer to adults having sex with pre-pubescent children, not with teen agers.

It's statutory rape (though there are other names for it) for someone who has reached the age of majority to have sex with an underage woman (who is NOT a child). like when an 18 year old is dating a 16 year old, or a 40 year old has sex with a 13 year old.

Don't get the idea that all Biblical conduct (even conduct that goes unpunished) has the endorsement of GOD.

That is definitely NOT the case. I don't think there was ever a time and culture where parent child incest was considered right.
