Cool Which side do you mount?

Just out of interest. I am wondering which side everyone mounts.

Which side do you put your weight on to mount (not which side you push off on)

I mount on the RIGHT side, of course!

I can mount with my left foot, but it does not come as easily.

It would be interesting if you had four options
Right handed, right foot
right handed, left foot
left handed, right foot
left handed, left foot

I've always wondered about this correlation

(for me, I'm right, right)

How can you put your foot on the pedal without any weight? Surely some weight or force must be applied to grip the pedal.

I generally static mount with my left foot on the back pedal- it holds the wheel steady while I throw my body weight up and over the wheel. It's weird how it feels so uncoordinated to mount with my right foot -I've always thought of myself as right footed- I can do it but not as easily. Maybe it's because the free foot does a more tricky action- the leading foot can be placed carefully with patience but the second foot is more of a hasty action that needs to be precise to be successful. The kids at school seem to pick up freemounting so much easier than I did.

You guys are deliberately misinterpreting the question- of course most unicyclists sit in the middle!

I hold the saddle with my left hand and rollback mount using my left foot. But I let go of the saddle, get situated, and then push down with my left foot since I often have to carry lots of stuff in my arms.

If I static mount, I keep holding the saddle with my left hand and put my left foot on the back pedal and jump up with my right foot.

I mount with right foot first normaly, but in SIF I mount with left foot first because I hop with the right foot forward.

I mount with my left foot (left pedal back) and I am right-handed (and footed).

I do not think it depends on being right/left-handed similar to riding a snowboard - some people are regular (left foot forward) and some people are goofy (right foot forward).

To illustrate, I am an identical twin and I am regular footed on a snowboard whilst my brother rides goofy, even though we are both right-handed!

I did think about having four options but then forgot about it while I was writing the poll...

It would be interesting to know so maybe in a few weeks once everyone has forgotten about this one, I should do another one...

I am interested because, being right handed (and right footed) I mount with my right foot down whereas quite a lot of people who I have had a go on my unicycle have tried mounting left footed (and they are right handed). While I was learning, this didn't even come to mind, I just did what my brain thought I should do...

I voted "right foot". I'm left handed, right footed, and mount more easily with my right foot on the back pedal.

Unhappy What are you talking about?

I mount on and off both.

Of course not! Silly! The left if I am feeling lucky, and the right if I had food poisoning in my food that day. And usually I just push down with my right foot. Yes, I did have ffoooodddd poisoning today! It was scrumptious! 8 times I blew chunks. Lovely info eh?
