Flowing - new style?

Hey, I want to start a new style of riding I call Flow.

Heres what it basically is:
  • on a 24 or 26
  • idea is to cover some distance with as much flow as possible
  • perform tricks cleanly along the way
  • not get off at any point

So essentially like street with less tricks and more focus on getting A-B.

What do you guys think?

I have a feeling Justin will enjoy this.

So that would be "riding a unicycle" then?

Could be called street, trials, freestyle, anything. "Flow" is style... Not a certain type of riding that deserves a label. Sheeeeesh!

you guys are missing the point.

MikeFule has the idea, just a bit less sarcasm.

Too tired to explain now.

Just no.

Andrew HardcoreCokerRider invented a new style of riding called Rolling Trials. He held the first ever Rolling Trials Competition at Ray's MTB in Cleveland (indoor mountain bike park -- think "North Shore trials in a warehouse"). Rolling Trials is designed mainly for Cokers riding raised, wooden, North Shore-type obstacles (with lots of sometimes steep ups and downs and skinnies and sharp curves). Hopping is not allowed. Trials without hopping? On Cokers? Absurd. But that's what it is. And if you are not hopping and you are not doing tricks either, isn't that just called 'riding'? "Rolling Trials" is almost an oxymoron. But it was something new. And the people who came to his competitions had a blast (the event grew -- I think he held three of them before getting his helicopter pilot's license and flying away into the sunset).

I'm pretty sure the idea wasn't out there before Andrew promoted it. It's a brave person who tries to invent something new, putting it out in the world and risking scorn and ridicule and misunderstanding.

So...

Give Jeremy's idea a bit of thought before condemning it (and him). Maybe you just don't quite get it yet. You never will with a closed mind. Maybe it's a crappy idea. Or maybe there's something good there. Brainstorm. Get creative. Or ignore. Hey, at first they laughed at Einstein's theories, too. And some people didn't quite get Andrew's Rolling Trials idea at first, either.

In any event, there's no need to be discourteous.

No offense

I agree Dave. No offense to anyone part of this thread, but Jeremy is an accomplished rider who I've seen significant progression in his skills over the last 2 years I've ridden with him, and we've got a solid group here in Mass. Taunting from AU, UK & NZ is an awful long ways away from Boston guys. I'll bet even KH himself dealt with ridicule when Off Roading was little more than a concept.

Just an FYI, Funding is 90% complete for the largest skate park in the US being built in Boston by Grindline ( the #1 premiere design and construction company for Skateparks ) http://www.charlesriverskatepark.org/. Boston soon will be a fantastic place to showcase street, trials, Muni, guni & Flow skills on 1 wheel, so be nice. You may just see us sooner than you know!

In my opinion the best way to promote something new is to show it to others (do it when you are out unicycling and make videos showing it) and not by making a thread about it.
