Mike Tyson's Daughter Dies at age 4

Quote:
By JONATHAN J. COOPER
Associated Press Writer

PHOENIX (AP) -- The 4-year-old daughter of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson died Tuesday, a day after what police called a "tragic accident" in her home. Phoenix police spokesman Andy Hill said Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead in a hospital just before noon.

Police said the girl was playing on a treadmill Monday in her central Phoenix home when she either slipped or put her head in the loop of a cord hanging under the console.

Exodus' 7-year-old brother found her and told their mother, who was in another room. She took Exodus off the cord, called 911 and tried to revive her.

Responding officers and firefighters performed CPR on Exodus as they took her to the hospital, where she had been listed in critical condition since Monday.

Tyson was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident and flew Monday to Phoenix, where he was seen entering the hospital.

Cynthia Schwartz, a spokeswoman for Tyson, said the family would release a statement Tuesday evening. They had not made any funeral arrangements, she said.

Hill said it was unclear whether an autopsy would be performed.
So sad. I know many of Tyson's woes are self inflicted, but as a parent my heart is with him today. We've all lost sight of our kids for a moment or two. It is such a tragedy when a young life is lost to a random accident.

That's sad. It must be hard for the parents to lose such a precious thing as a child, especially when it is an accident of this sort. They will probably blame themselves, but I hope they will move on after mourning.

Accident or suicide?

Some articles ive seen so far make it seem like she meant to wrap the cord around her neck.

Crazy stuff though, pretty sad. My prayers to him and his family.

Knowing that nobody from the Tyson family is likely to ever read this thread, I'll respond here. Based on what I read above (which I also heard on the radio), the description sounds like a factual description of the situation as it was reported to them, not a speculation. There are actually four possibilities. Self-inflicted accident, playing with sibling(s) accident, intentional suicide (do 4-year-olds actually ever do that?) or foul play, meaning murder or negligence. I think it's only polite to assume this is an accident until or unless someone with more facts suggests there needs to be further inquiry.

That was my point.

I also thought it wouldnt be right to show disbelief with sarcasm by using one of the smileys.

Either way, its really sucky.

As far as I know, 4 y/o Kids don't apprehend the concept of death. I would say it CAN'T be a suicide.
All my thoughts are with the Tysons and all the unknown families wich have to deal with such a tragedy.
Loosing one of my kids is my biggest fear by far.
