RTL - When will they stop rubbing it in the faces of those who aren't going?

OK, this was meant as a joke people...

But a few times I have wondered if I made the right choice when I decided not to become a crustacean jockey. We can't do everything, and I'm not much of a road unicyclist anyway, and I had already decided to go to unicon this year - so I thought it would be best to stay here and keep up the unicycle tradition in the Mountain Mayhem xc race. Not to mention the other half would probably never speak to me again if I said I was going to Canada for a week to ride in a race
So I made my decision. Mountain Mayhem and unicon. I was happy. Then every thread on RSU suddenly began with "RTL", and the ones that didn't became full of lobster talk. I was the only person in the world not going. Even friends ring me up and talk about all their uni modifications and training in preparation for RTL (thanks Tue )

Aaaaarrrrggghhhhhh

Rob (sometimes a bit gutted)

You can still keep up with the racing on the website and make bets in that other RTL thread.

Just like watching a big event you can't attend really. Like the Tour de France

Joke or not, you have to create these polls seriously, otherwise the data is useless. How can I vote for "As soon as the next one is announced" if it's not even listed there? Tsk! Tsk!

Okay, I've made this signature for everyone! Everyone that's going to RTL put it in your signature!

RIDE THE LOBSTER ** >PP< I unicycle for lobsters! >PP< ** RIDE THE LOBSTER

I never liked lobster and not just because of the whole trayf thing.

But the fact that we lost several regular Unithon riders to RTL hasn't made them any fonder to my heart.

You wouldn't have seen them if they were along anyway, other than at the beginning. For the same reason I haven't made an effort to ride with other people when doing my RTL training, except for my few meet-ups with the Bay area riders who are doing the same. None of the local riders could keep up, and if I slowed down for them it wouldn't be very good training.

BTW I'm also not crazy about (eating) lobster. Maybe it's better when it's fresher!

Sorry to all the people who "chose poorly." I gave it a lot of thought. But I knew this was going to be an unprecedented event, and even though long road rides are not my thing, I've decided to take whatever skills I have from a long history of short track racing and apply them as best I can.

Rob- your not alone. I amd eteh same choice as you. I'mnot regreting it yet. My bumisn;t numb and I dont; have road rash. I don;t have to fly transatlantic. I don;t hav eto leave my family for a week to live out of a back pack and in sweaty shorts whle coming last in a race.

Sarah

The correct answer is, "When people start preparing for the NEXT major unicycle race"!

I'm planning to brag about RTL for the rest of my life, and I'm currently considering various tattoo ideas. All of this will only be made more unbearable if my team finishes among the top 10.
