Yeah. I've got a really good passion now in conjunction with unicycling.

BLACKSMITHING/bladesmithing/knifemaking.

Yeah. I'll post a couple pictures of what i've made in a bit.

So.
Here's a couple things i've made:

Modern Tomahawk

Raptor Hunter's knife.

Those are the two most recent.
I'm reworking an older one into a "Shortman" Bowie knife.

Do your demographic study, advertise, develop a clientele, purchase liability insurance for when the first person cuts their finger off and sues you, plan to go into debt first before you start realizing a profit somewhere down the road.

Or just set up a kool-aid type stand alongside the road and hope for the best.

How developed is your passion? I can see you've got a bit of style in your metalwork. Have you studied anything about your materials? About ductility and hardness? If you were developing a throwing knife versus a utility knife versus a "showpiece" this would be an important topic.

Also, what kind of handles do you make? The blade is usually only half the knife... do you ever do any scrollwork on the handle? ...inlay any other materials? Have you used anything besides rivets and/or epoxy to join the tang and handle?

My pop made a few blades in his days, including a couple swords. He never did much research on tempering other than finding the right color to heat the metal before doing an oil quench... none of his blades ever shattered, and that's all that mattered. Of course, the scientist in me always looked for a way to make a 'hawk that kept its edge longer, but I moved away from home before I made my own design...
