I say be strong and tell your boss that you aren't comfortable dressing up as a clown. Suggest an alternative (like some people have already metioned) and come up with an agreement. Treat your boss as a peer. As long as you have a relatively good relationship with your boss then it should work out fine. Just relax and tell the truth, your boss will be much happier hearing the truth than if you lie about it and then she finds out.

I'd agree on the terms that I'd get to dress exactly like the clown in Stephen King's "It".
