There is no doubt about that.
A year or two ago I read an article in USA Today about teens discovering classic rock gems like Queen and filling up their MP3 players with old music. Part of that was because new music just sucks so much. The other part is because Queen is just so good. The first album I ever bought was Queen's News of the World.

I can barely stand to listen to the radio, because, except for about 1 or 2 classic rock stations, it's like aural rape.

The only music that is bareable today is some of the softer bands like john mayer (best example i can think of at 11pm) who aren't screaming their heads off into the microphone and cussing every other word... the music that we consider 'oldies' are defiently better because they portrayed their point through the music, and not necessarily by the use of profanity.

Queen is one of my favourite bands ever. They are great!
I also prefer "oldies" to modern stuff.

New music sucks. I used to listen to Good Ol' Fashioned Loverboy on loop. Like for 12 hours a day while working on neverending homework.

John Mayer?! There is plenty of respectable music today. I agree completely that what is considered the "modern" music of today is garbage. I agree from time to time that a "rap" song can carry a catchy tune. Very few rap songs demonstrate any aspect of musical talent though. I have no respect for any rap artist really. But there are tons of contemporary artists and underground artists that demonstrate a great deal of talent in their music...and thats what makes good music - talent. I'm only 18, so I guess no one can REALLY respect my opinion because i'm thought of as today's rebellious youth. But, who hasn't blasted Bohemian Rhapsody late at night with the windows down with a group of friends to sing backup.
