I wish to thank you all for educating spazdude222 about this most important matter, without which we may not be able to converse intelligently.

Last night on TV I saw a documentary wich made me think immediately about this thread.
It was about people who searched for war criminal nazis after WWII. Some of them were found about 15 years ago. The documentary shows that many nazis (officers, doctors, guardians...) were hung by the US like a few days/hours after they were judged. America was considered as a civilized nation at that time, just like now. So I can't understand some people speaking about hanging people in a "more respectful way" (hellooooooooo Georges ).This only shows that the real matter is "the good old death penalty question". The way people are sentenced to death is just a "detail" used by some people to feel less guilty about the real issue. As Catwood (if I remember well) said earlier it's not either about why the person is sentenced to death it's about being pro or anti death penalty. Killing Sadam (and his 2 "friends") was a great mistake, but Irak should not be tought how to behave by nations who also execute people. Note: This is not meant to be an anti-american post. We french also carry our loads of torture and death during Algeria war... My father fought during that war and I wouldn't be proud to know what happened at that time (if only he could speak about it)

Funny that peopel like Bugman think the USA won the war.
Even conservatives like charles krauthammer are against the "surge" of troops in Iraq. USA installed a hopelessly sectarian Maliki govt. It protects Sadr, as we saw when Maliki ordered the lifting of US barricades set up around Sadr City in search of a notorious death squad leader. It is enmeshed with Iran, as we saw when the Maliki govt forced the USA to release Iranian agents found in the compound of one of his coalition partners. The Saddam hanging illuminated the sectarian nature of his govt. Will the next Bush installed govt hang Maliki for his support of death squads???
