$5000.00 to start a new religion!
True story. It was in yesterday's NYTimes.
a documentary film maker offered several people $5000.00 to start a new religion! He wanted to film the process. He got LOTS of applicants, interviewed 50, selected some for the project. One guy gave his first sermon in a bar, to mostly his friends, who said they wouldn't be coming back because he wasn't providing answers. he didn't want to be dogmatic, though he had like 14 giuding principles. See, peopel want to be TOLD what to think.

Sorry I missed out on that. I have often thought of starting my own cult.

This is ridiculous everybody knows you can make way more than 5 grand by starting a religion. Heck, you can make way more than that by exploiting an existing religion.

see this is where my belief in religion falters,
the mere fact you can create your own.

Cult / Religion
I don't think it was intentional but Carlos Castaneda started something fo a cult with his series of books starting with Teaching of Don Juan, A Yaqui Way of Knowledge. Other books in that series, not necessarily in order, Tales of Power, The Eagle's Gift, Journey to Ixtlan, etc.
I doubt that anyone but us OF (seniors) will recognise the titles. It will be interesting to se how many of the group Juniors and Seniors are aware fo these books. OOP's This is not intended to turn into a thread jack. |
