Actually, I thought it was just a once a year thing.
But anyways. I think that it is very wastefull. They could send those phones to people that have been raped or something so they can always call 911 in an emergancy.

That is not a sport. People are calling all kinds of things a sport, and it's stupid.

Hey, I just invented a new sport-underwater hiccuping!

I'm pretty sure that for every Finn there are 1.1 subscriptions to mobile phone service meaning that there are more of such subscriptions than there are Finns. Put in the marketing terms of the industry, Finland has one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world. So, there are also a lot of spare mobile phones floating around. Why not toss them around?

I'd also bet that Nokia, a Finnish company, and one of, if not the largest, mobile phone manufacturer in the world encourages and possibly even endorses this sport in some way.

I threw my Nokia a few times because it was such a piece.

That's for dang sure. And if you or JC are ever bleeding and incapacitated from a bad Muni or Coker fall, be sure to remind Blackwood and me not to use our cell phones to call for help. We can always use your glasses to light a signal fire.

Does that mean it can't be a sport if it isn't stupid? Uh, plenty of evidence to the contrary of that. So maybe we need your definition of sport. Defining what can be "a sport" is always fun, but to do it right you usually have to keep widening and widening until you have something like the definition of art...

this is what a sport is:

Sports consists of a physical activity carried out with a recreational purpose for competition, for self-enjoyment, to attain excellence, for the development of a skill, or, more often, some combination of these. A sport is typically charactized by physical activity, competition, self-motivation and a scoring system. Sports differ in their dependence upon a set of individual or team skills, as well as in the ways in which they have their participants compete.

If'n I's incapacertated does that mean my haids bin cut off or that all the capacitors in my cell phone has been stolt?

That's what the definition of a sport is. It doesn't mean anything that fits that description is a sport. For example, a tomato is technically a fruit, but you obvisouly wouldn't put it in fruit cocktail!

Huh? Or as I was going to say, the Wiki definition is the wide version. I'm hoping Forrest has one that includes unicycling, for instance, but doesn't allow for mobile phone throwing.
