Yeah i like old good punk like the clash, sex pistols and the ramones. This new stuff is terrible. And saying its all the punk/goth/emo kids, a lot of those kids are just buying into the image. and not liking this music does not mean i hate rock, i love rock, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Judas Priest, pink floyd, queen, just to name a few.

I don't really understand how P!ATD can even be called "pop" punk, in fact, I'm not sure I even understand the concept of "pop-punk".

Wikipedia says
Quote:
Common punk ethics include a radical rejection of conformity, the DIY (Do It Yourself) ethic, direct action for political change, and not selling out to mainstream interests for personal gain.
Isn't the pop aspect pretty much the exact opposite to that?

Find out more...

Well, I think I have to agree with John Childs' original post. I think they're geniuses and onto something...when you hear that song...it repeats over and over in your head...there's nothing you can do...the chorus etches itself into your brain...

Now, if only they could apply this technique to stuff you actually had to remember, like your list of household chores, or your multiplication tables. Then they'd really be rich.

It seems others don't much care for Panic! At The Disco either, at least in the UK.

Lead singer for Panic! At The Disco knocked out cold by a bottle thrown on stage

Google News search for more.

Seconds into the band's early afternoon set, a bottle was hurled from the crowd which connected with the singer's head.

Punk rock is dead anyways. There's no sense in trying to reconcile the obvious. "Advertising is the high art of capitalism". Accept it. Buy it. Wear matching clothes.
