Uhh, mac 2wire network issues...

Hey,

So I got a new macbook today and it doesn't want to connect to the wireless network in my house... It is a 2wire thing. So first I found the right network then it asks for a WEP password and I didn't know what that was so I looked it up and I found out it is just printed on the bottom of my router in brackets. I wrote that down and I try to enter it in my laptop and it tells me there was an error joining the AirPort network.

It is frustrating having a brand new laptop sitting here and I don't know how to get it online...

I don't really know what I am doing so I am hoping someone knows what I need to do (John Childs? )

Oh, and one more not very related question: I am using imovie right now and I can't import .wmv clips. I know I need to download windows media viewer to even watch the clips but does anyone know if that will allow me to edit witht them too?

Thanks!

I don't think the numbers on the bottom of the router is your password, you set that up when you set up the network. Find out who set up your network and ask what the WEP key is.

I finally got it to work, the password on the bottom of the router was right...I just had to go to other forums to find out how to do it.
If anyone cares/wants to know in the future here you go

Ok here is your solution to connecting to the internet on Mac OSX when you have a 2wire network. The default "WEP Password" will not work. Under the Airport settings on the taskbar (Right Hand Corner) where the connections are, choose Other. There will be a drop down list for connections. Choose your Wireless Router. and where is says Network Security. On the drop down Menu, Choose WEP 40/128-bit Hex. Put in your WEP Password, save password, and Enjoy Surfin the web wirelessly on Mac OSX.

I don't do Mac.

I have actually never used Mac OSX. I know a lot about PCs and Windows, but very very little about Macs.
