freedom of speech and religion

I have'nt seen too much JC, so this can be a double-post.

But I guess I found very good example of freedom of speech and religion in America.

The first amendment protests both freedom of speech and freedom and religion

Wow! That's too much.

And moreso because FOX is conservative and anti-gay and GWBush religious.

Bill Moyers interviewed Salman Rushdie recently, part of a series on Reason and Religion. Rushdie is a good interview--very bright.

The first amendment protests both freedom of speech and freedom and religion. They go together, cannot have one without the other.

Wow, that was more yelling than a Jerry Springer show.

God is raging mad. Shaking with rage. Sounds kinda Old Testament.

Wow. The energy released if those two were put in the same room would solve the global oil problem and the Iraq police state would be a thing of the past. Global warming might suffer a bump up, though.

wow.... that just completely sucked.....

I can't really tell which I like less. On one hand, the god hates fags thing just makes me really sad, but on the other hand if you're unable to conduct a reasonable interview with somebody who you detest you should either not do the interview or not have that job in the first place...

very scary.

I agree. Very unprofessional on the part of the interviewer. It could damage her career, maybe even at Fox. Rule #1 of an interviewer. Let the subject talk.

Clearly she was letting her emotions get the best of her. This was a little obvious even before the other woman had a chance to speak. I watched about half of the clip. I wouldn't have even lasted that long had I flipped to it on the TV. I hate when people won't give each other the chance to speak. It's as if they're afraid of what the other person will say or something. But if you want a useful "discussion" you're going to have to take turns!

Personally I don't know that I'd give that woman any air time on my own show; I don't know that she would have anything useful to add other than what one would see from their protesting. Certainly doing dueling Bible quotes won't solve anything...

I think it's really sad that people actually believe what you just said.

God doesn't hate 'gay' people. Where did you get that idea?

Being 'gay'... on the other hand....

That protester lady is crazy... it bugs me when people like that get in the media.

Don't be absurd. God loves gay people and has a special part of heaven set aside for them to play hopscotch on trials unicycles. You won't get to see it because you believe otherwise. You only get to see the part where the houses are made of gummy bears and each room has a giant Gameboy in it. The only word necessary in that part is "awesome" so everyone can communicate with each other without using all of those silly other words and having to form complete thoughts or sentences. Don't worry, you'll love it there.

apparently:

god created all things good and evil and as such, it appears that god created homosexuality. If god is to put people in hell because they are gay, well it's hardly their fault, didnt god make them that way?

Very true and also one of my pet hates. That interview would have been so much more interesting if they were both confident enough of their arguments to let the other person respond and listen to what they say.

GOD HATES FAGS!!!!!!!!

You go, God! Give'm Hell! Literally...

Wow, that sounds like a wise, loving, compassionate, and enlightened god... NOT!

I thought God had matured a bit since the Old Testament days. I thought He mellowed out in His old age. No more fits of rage. No more smiting. Guess I was wrong. Temper, temper, temper, now, God. You should know better (being God and all). Anger. Hatred. Rage. How low of You. Let the punishment fit the "crime". Eternal damnation? WTF???

All this misery for nothing. All in the name of a non-existent God. What a terrible waste.

LOL, now if we could just work politics into this thread, we would have it all... a place to discuss religion, homosexuality, AND politics! All in one convenient thread!
