How it can possibly take away from you or the (non-existant) public image of "good" unicycling is beyond me.

So Maxis, Evan, Skrobo and Mike_Foote, apparently growing up doesn't happen overnight but you really should start working on it.

Wow Evan I am glad you learned to use words. I have been riding for 1 week and I think it is great to see how much a person can learn in 3 months. I am also glad that more people got exposed to that fact.

It seems the most popular videos on Google Video, YouTube, and other clip sites, are all around one minute in length. I get the impression that the average attention span of the 'net viewer is rapidly decreasing, now somewhere around 20-30 secs. You can make the most amazing video you want but that doesn't mean people would watch it... as I said earlier, it's easier to impress the masses with mediocrity as long as it's short and sweet.

Why isn't the U2 trailer the most popular unicycling video, I wonder... even though I've seen it 100's of times, I still think it's the raddest little bit of 'core unicycling to be compressed into ~30 secs of video. I think there's too much going on in that clip for the average net viewer to comprehend... but I have little faith in the MySpacers and AOLers of the net... color me black if you will... but it seems the truly talented material is largely ignored.

I agree with maestro...(I think). Most people think of unicycling as "Clown stuff" or circus stuff. So if you show em someone jumping on tables, its gonna wow em. But if you show them doing crankflips, ww, pirouettes and hardcore muni. Most of them dont understand the complexity of it and quickly lose interest.

Thats just what i think.

I think you're on to something. Mainly I believe that if it's too flashy, or too polished, perfect and professional, that the average person is sometimes feels "intimidated" and rejects what they're seeing as "showing off" or whatever. Some people (mostly jealous competitors) criticised Mozart for "trying to impress beyond his abilities", but he was wildly successful with the "common masses". So as far as the general public is concerned, maybe the table-top hop stuff of less flashy, perfect stuff seems more within "their reach" of possibilty, and therefore is less intimidating.

That's got to be part of it as well. Highly polished, well-edited pro-level riding (not that the public knows the difference on the riding part) will look like someone who spent countless hours learning their craft. But a homemade-looking video of more modest skills may not look too much harder than plain unicycle riding to the people who might want to try it someday. More accessible.

My friend, do you really know what it is which you speak of? I apologize, but if there is anyone who knows the view of the general populace on unicycling, it is myself. And I agree with what Evan said previously. You all just use words, because you are unable to produce excrement. You type like one who has had sexual intercourse with one who has previously given birth...My opinion is that you all give a bad image to unicycling, if you aren't happy with it, then just stop talking, seriously, just stop talking. Come on, you all know that which you say is incorrect, so stop talking, please, please, please, stop talking and indulging in alcoholic beverages.

A triple crankflip looks pretty much like a single crankflip, and a single crankflip is a lot harder than it looks. If you want to impress non-unicyclists, you need to do things which look cool, not things which are actually difficult. A seatwhip is much more likely to wow a casual viewer than hand wheel walking.
