pedal grab?

I can crank grap pretty well, and Ive been trying to learn how to do a pedal grap. I hop with my right foot back, and I stall with my left crank forward, but when I do pedal grabs I cant hop off or hold it there. should I learn to do it with my right pedal?

naw ... keep doing it w/ the left pedal, and i found that if I had the seat exactly straight above the thing i hop on ... the uni is balanced and much easier to land on

The part where you jump up from a pedal grab can be tricky to start with, it gets much easier to hold it there with practice though. I think just doing it the way you've been trying will be easiest for you.

Don't mess around for too long trying to get your balance, just get onto your pedal and then lean in, swing the uni up and go for rubber.

i also jump left foot back, but i stall/grind with my front foot.

mornish- the think that i do when i pedal grab is to keep most of my weight on the pedal i am grabbing with. it tends to help.

No, you're not weird. There's really no such thing. It's just your case happens less than most. All this means in terms of pedal grabbing, is that it's a little harder to execute the skill, than most. Having the front foot as the grabbing foot, is the most efficient way...but there are a few who do it your way just fine. Where it's going to be harder is going to rubber, as I'm sure you already know.

what hand do you hold your seat with?

Mornish--Sometimes visualizing in your mind your pedal on whatever object you're trying to grab onto, before you actually make the attempt, can really help. I usually do this before I make the leap, and I have had really good results, landing with the pedal pretty square on the object.

I don't know if others do this.

And I will say that now that my hops have increased drastically in height, I don't do too many pedals grabs anymore.

thats how i ride too.

TrialsUni- everything you just said is exactly what i do, when i visualize it i can land square on it.
but now my hop height is much higher, and the things i use to have to crank grab i dont anymore. i just started visualizing going straight to rubber. i think alot of unicycling is all in the head.

I am right handed, I hold the handle with my right, or left hand, and I can jump with right or left foot in front, but Ill mainly jump to my left, but I am working on getting used to jumping to the right.

Its good to be an ambidextrous rider. =p

ok, I was a little bit worried, because my friends who sort of sucks at trials learned how to pedal grab and hop off in like 5 min and he does it with his back foot, and ive been trying 4 weeks with my front with almost no success.when I get home ill prctise some more.

Im not very good at it either...It just takes practice(So ive been told). I hop with my left foot back and pedal grab with the left while its in back. Its just more comfortable that way for me.

Hope you get it soon
