Could you teach a monkey to ride a unicycle?

Do you think it would be possible to teach a primate of some kind to ride a unicycle? or maybe a bear or a meercat or something? of course I don't necissarily mean a regular unicycle, but maybe one with an altered seat or pedals to better suit a bear, monkey or other type of animal's feet and butt.

I think it would be possible...it is, of course, possible to teach monkeys and bears to ride bicycles. They do that in the circus. So yes, I think teaching a monkey or other primate to ride a unicycle would be possible.

And James_Potter, have you actually ever seen a bear ride a unicycle at a circus? if you have thats awesome but i think that might just something they stick in childrens books and cartoons.

well they taught a dog how to ride a bike so a unicycle might be possible.

Research suggests early primates were similar in many ways to rodents.

You'll enjoy these videos - http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/sho...ighlight=chimp . There's one amazing one of a chimp riding a unicycle. It's brilliant!

My question: could we find an animal that is not human that would have, internally, the desire and motivation to learn to ride a unicycle?

It is almost certainly possible to beat almost any behavior into a species with the anatomic and neurological capacity to learn a skill, but is it a justifiable goal?

I am thinking of dancing bears, a long standing tradition of making wonderful beautiful creatures writhe in pain for entertainment value to people.

you could get a unicycle with training wheels then after a week or two take the training wheels off and see if it can ride
