No trials for me. I have to drive 2+ hours to get home. I'm looking forward to some pizza afterward though.

If you haven't sent in your registration form but plan on coming to the Unithon, please PM me. We'd like to have a better idea of how many riders will be coming.

Thanks.

If you have a brand new Coker Deluxe why are you riding distance on your 20"?

I've never rode distance on anything other than a 28" and a 36" so I can't tell you how much to train on your 20". What I can tell you is how I'm training. Since we only have a week left to train you should be cautious not to ride too much so that you burn yourself out for next Saturday. I've been riding 10 miles every other day during the week. This morning I had a nice 21 mile ride. This week I'm planning to ride another 20 - 25 miles on Monday then only 10 - 15 miles on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday I'm planning to rest for Saturday's ride.

Last year I had at least one 30 mile training ride but that was just to make sure I could do it. I won't do that this year because of the difference in terrain between my training rides and the actual LBI tour. My training rides are through the hills of North Jersey but the UniTour is absolutely flat. A 20 - 25 mile training ride with hills is about as hard, if not harder than a 35 mile ride on the flats.

One other thing in our favor is the 30 - 45 minute rest we are likely to enjoy before heading back to Barnagate.

What size cranks to use on a Coker has been the subject of much debate. Currently I'm riding with 150's and will do the same for the LBI ride. In my opinion, since this will be your first Coker, you'd do well to start with 150's. The big wheel is much harder to start and stop than the smaller wheels. The 150's will make riding more enjoyable until your legs build the strength to more easily power the big wheel.

I'm planning on owning a pair of each (150's & 125's) outfitted with a "one key release" or autex mechanism for easy removal. Each pair of cranks will be outfitted with pedals to make for quick changes depending on my mood and the terrain I'm planning to ride.

Less than a week to the Unithon.

Just so you all know, I am currently in negotiations with Steve aka dogbowl to get him to join us even though he wont be able to ride.

And by the way, I wont be riding this year but will be doing break stations and babysitting duty.

See you!
