Sorry, replied before noticing that were several more pages to this thread. I was talking about the first map.

I may have missed it through being repressed by the Queen, but I can't be certain.

Bud-Litebulb: I have to tell you I'm not part of the anti-american crowd.
In my opinion, no one should be proud of the military skills or the habilities for war of ones nation, except those who fight (and still... imagine a world where nobody would be proud of making war... that would just be peace on earth. idealistic but true!).
It seems to me that you like History: having killed the king didn't prevent us from obeing to an Emperor some years later, and I don't think that having the Queen on Canadians bank-notes make this country less democratic than US or France... hey you see, middle age's over now this shows that finally killing the king was a great symbol, but I bet the situation wouldn't be so far from what it is if Louis XVI hadn't been killed. No revolution in Great Britain, and Brits don't seem to be unhappy people.
Maybe you should try to understand people and show a little empathy instead of watching the world through FOX-news. People can live happily, even if you don't understand the way they live.

The war against terror?

As someone once said, fighting for peace is like sh*gging for virginity.

A small number of disaffected Saudis attacked America in a horrendous crime. America then goes and attacks Afghanistan, followed by Iraq. Next in line: Iran. None of which is Saudi, any more than Canada is Texas.

Thousands of innocent people killed but they are "unfortunate civilian casualties" in a war that even the Secretary General of the United Nations called illegal.

And now people are queueing up to become terrorists. For the first time ever, we have had British born people committing suicide attacks in Britain.

If you take a strimmer to something that can take root from fragments, you are not clearing the garden.

This sentence has made my day, even without the absurd spelling...

Yes, how rude of us to have a national figurehead to give the Commonwealth a symbol to rally around that does not depend on transient and largely irrelevant politicians. I mean, what a daft idea, maintaining something that has been a defining part of the history of Britain ("history" in this case meaning more than a century or two) and played a large part of making the world the shape it is today.

It's obviously so daft that Australians have repeatedly voted to become a republic. Ah, my mistake, that last bit is the wrong way round, sorry.

Yes, we should follow the example of the US, because you lot seem utterly happy with your current leader. Ah, my bad again...

I know, a lot of you will say "But it's true!" and go on about how awful america is, and back it up with a lot of stuff, maybe true, maybe not.
oh yay....he's back...

The reason it's funny, Bud, is because it's a JOKE...we know it's not true, everyone else knows it's not true.....that's why it's ok to poke fun at the "stupidity" of Americans, but not ok to poke fun at the Holocaust...

(Ok, maybe killing is a bit too much, but ay least sending them into exile)
Why do you bother posing arguments if you're going to contradict yourself at the end anyway, and do my job for me?

Technically what we have is a ridiculous "republic." If it were a true democracy, we'd be able to elect our own presidents without having the will of the people potentially distorted by the Electoral College...

Quite right. Totally ridiculous. Why let someone inherit symbolic power? In a proper modern democracy, the head of state would buy real power.

...and since this is a two party system where voting for anything else is considered throwing your vote away, the vote is distorted even more by the two parties.

Which two parties are those? I was only aware of one in the US.
