shin/knee pads

After repeated shin scrapes with my ridiculous new pedals(came with Onza 24 inch MUni), I have deemed it necessary to purchase some protection. However I am having difficulty finding shin pads with wrap-around protection that fit within my budget of around $30. Does anyone have any suggestion as to where I can look, or specific models I can try? Thanks...

These have protected my leg from many a scar...

Ironicly, the 1st time I wore them with shorts (got 'em at x-mas) they scarred me through chaffing, so I wear them backwards, with the "sixsixone" logo on the inside of my leg...

Yes the 661 4x4 is genreally considered the standard uni leg armour, they're so good i've just bought a second pair, after 3 years my first set are getting a little worn.

I back up the 661's, they're excellent.

I replaced my 661's with Roach Rally FR pads. The change was due to a superman fall that I took with the 661's. When my knees hit the ground they slid out of the pads and scraped on a rock. The Roach pads have hard plastic on the knees and shins and are more likely to slide when making contact with the ground keeping my knees inside of the pads where they belong.

The 661's had served me well up until that point.
