A brick in the dark

So there I was, I had just put together my new coker and was so thrilled, that the moment I got home, I went for a ride. I was cruisin on 127's and I'd never ridden a coker config like that but I managed to mount it okay. Unfortunately while I was riding, I forgot I live in the ghetto, so at the spot where I was preparing to swerve to avoid the usual pile of broken glass, I was instantly in the air. while up there I though, why am I up here, and oh crap the ground,
I landed on my hands first and I beleive I caught some of the aforementioned glass. Still very happy I continued to ride around the block till I got back home. The next day, I notice a large brick right where I was riding at the night before. no idea where that brick came from, there's nothing bricky in the area. anybody else got any amusing crashes?

I had a fall the other day that was amusing. I decided to ride my 29"er back from dropping my car off at the garage and had to ride some unfamiliar streets. The pavement turned out to be rather uneven. So I'm riding past the 7-Eleven and this little girl, maybe 7 or so, in a pickup truck that is turning in looks at me smiling and just as I smile back and wave, bam, down I go. I hit a bump, a groove or something in the sidewalk. I landed on my knee and it was a small cut but gushed blood. And to make matters worse, flustered as I was, I couldn't freemount on that damn pavement.

So when you say "the ghetto" do you literally mean "the ghetto" being that it's Iowa?

as ghetto as it gets around here, which means riding some of the pavement is like muni

The coker is probably the best thing to happen to me since I went on summer break. I was going to work on one foot yesterday, then I saw the coker and ended up riding 40 blocks

I was at Loantaka Brook Reservation in NJ, at the intersection of two paved bike paths getting ready to mount. A group of bicyclists was coming through, so I waited for them to pass. One guy stopped behind me and said, "I gotta see this."

I mounted and started riding. He followed me. I was keeping to the right waiting for him to pass and catch up with his group, but he never did. He was obviously fascinated by my riding. In fact, he wanted to see it close up (he was semi-tailgating). For a whole mile (click-click-click-click-click riding riding riding right behind me). Until I hit a dip in the pavement (while distracted). I fly off the Coker (a beautiful Dave Stockton 36er), landing on my feet running (I'm fine). The unicycle immediately clangs to the ground directly in the path of the bicycle. The bike skids to a stop, ramming my beautiful Dave Stockton 36er in the "neck" (the seatpost area) and pushing it forward slightly. Instictively (and probably erroneously), I immediately apologized (for dropping a heavy purple object right in his path).

My KH seat ripped (that doesn't ordinarily happen) because the ramming action made the seat grind into the rough pavement.

Oh, well. The guy was cool and we talked about unicycles for a few minutes (he asked how long it took me to "master" riding! woo hoo!) We didn't bring up the subject of tailgating a unicyclist, but I think he learned his lesson.

All in a day's ride.

Sorry to post again, but I just realized the above is misleading. He pushed the entire unicycle forward. He didn't damage anything (except rip the seat).

Suh-weet! Congrats on the new baby. Break a leg! Just don't do it in the ghetto, you'd probably wake up to find your coker frame sitting up on concrete blocks

At the end of my 9 mile cross country ride yesterday i was getting really tired, and was just concentrating on keeping my cadence going so that I could keep up with the fast group. Anyway, I was riding along and had one of those random upds without a cause. The interesting thing about this was that when I ran out my legs just wouldn't work for running, as they had been spinning my MUni for hours. I almost didn't survive the run out because my knee buckled and I couldn't get my other leg to move up and catch me. It was kind of like "Screw staying upright, I'll just not do that. I'm too tired."

Not too interesting, but it was weird for me. I've never had anything like that happen before.
