Where is the famous North Shore?
I feel like I should know this...but I don't.
Where is the North Shore everybody talks about. I'd love to ride there some day. I'm pretty sure its somewhere is Canada...right? I really don't know my Canadian geography.

Re: Where is the famous North Shore?
140 miles north of Seattle WA you will find a little hamlet called Vancouver
BC. From Vancouver cross the Second Narrows bridge over the Burrard Inlet into North Vancouver. You should be able to find your way from there....just ask the first cyclist you see, or head into Deep Cove Cycles and pick up a trail map. Come on up...you can crash on my couch. Thanks for the info. Is this the same part of Vancouver where they are holding the Vancouver Island Muni Weekend?
That might be a really nice trip to do later this summer.

...but....
Northshore trails are everywhere. Here in Brisbane, Australia there's an awsome one being currently built. It'll be done in about 3 months and it'll have everything: - Drops of all sizes up to about 15' - See-saws - Heaps of narrow planks hgih and low above the ground - Jumps - Etc. Northshore's great! I can't wait to try this park out. Until now I've only had the chance to do little homemade northshore rails and so on. The photo I've attached is of one of the things that's already been built. The drops are 3', 6', and 10' but add a little more because of the steep landing. Those measurements were taken from the jump and didn't include the landing. Andrew

Hey nbrazzi,
I found the official website for the North Shore trails. Visit the NSMBA (North Shore Mountain Bike Association) website at http://www.nsmba.bc.ca/ I didn't look around much on the site, but it looks like it has a lot of information; maps included. --Dale |

The North shore trails are not on Vancouver Island, but there are a ton of very
awesome trails that resemble those you would find on the shore. Hope to see you here. Dylan |

With the state of the Canadian dollar it's an excellent time to come. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the prices overall ;-). Late summer is a great time to come....little chance of rain with warm (although not usually 'hot") days. Just so you know what to expect, here's a shot of downtown Vancouver with Stanley Park in the middle and part of the North Shore mountains in the background: http://tinyurl.com/7ie3 |

Re: Re: Where is the famous North Shore?
Wow. That photo looks like a screenshot from SimCity. Everything is exactly where its supposed to be, perfectly divided. The downtown area with the highrise office buildings on the other side of the waterfront from the residential division, with the highway connecting the two. Waterfront commerce, sports stadium, tiny....silver...golfball....thing. They all look perfectly planned out like SimCity.
