Was she born that way? She must have had a sex change. How in the world are you allowed to compete in sports as a female after having a sex change?

Could you imagine listening to an interview with her? How deep would her voice be?

I think the IUF and USA need to ammend the competition rules to say that after having a sex change you are not allowed to compete in unicycling competitions. God knows I would not want to see someone like that doing a freestyle unicycling routine.

Relax, John.

She was banned for doping with norbolethone, an anabolic agent. Thomas tested positive for an elevated testosterone (that's a male hormone) level at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials and received a one-year suspension from USA Cycling and UCI competitions. Under UCI rules, a second offense involving anabolic agents brings a lifetime suspension.
Men who have had sex changes need estrogen and progesterone therapy, those are female hormones. If Tammy Thomas had a sex change, doping with steroids that increase the testosterone levels would probably reverse the years of treatment that it took for the sex-change in the first place. In other words, Tammy Thomas is a female athlete who's been accused of taking male hormones in order to boost her performance.

If you're going by that link in the MTB forum, a little closer look will reveal that The Ladies of CES are transvestites (crossdressers); not transsexuals (people who have had surgery and hormone treatment to change their gender). Just because there's someone by the same name on the TV site, doesn't mean they're the same person. I couldn't find any info that mentioned that Tammy Thomas is a transsexual. All the web articles say she's a female athlete. A simple Google search turns up thousands of Tammy Thomases. I seriously doubt somebody who's trying to get on the Olympic team is going to put their face on a TV website.

Geez! After all the preaching about tolerance and PC pig info, you'd think you would be a little more tolerant, or at least more discreet about your prejudices on a forum viewed by young people. God knows you wouldn't want to see someone like her, and now all the rest of us do, too.

Quote:
from a page with an article about a real transgendered athlete:
The Olympics, in particular, have begun changing their views on transgendered athletes. The International Olympic Committee's decades-old practice of carrying out genetic tests on female athletes, then weeding them out if they were found to have the male Y-chromosome, was scrapped in time for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
Here's the link to the complete article:http://www.beaumontsociety.org.uk/tgbiker.htm

So if the Olympics Committee's tolerance of patriotic displays is OK, why not their decision to accept people who have changed their gender?

We shouldn't regulate what people can do at Unicycling conventions, just who they are, then, huh?
