Jus-10,
I realize that your signature is a creative way to post your name but after that last post, I have to wonder if the 10 has something to do with age. In all seriousness, Does it? Just curious. Bruce |

Okay, Jus-10. I'll try this. You're 14, I'm 41. I hope you can take this with the spirit intended.
One of my favorite quotes and my life's applications is, "You don't get honey by tipping over the beehive." The majority of folks posting to this forum are very interested in the subject of unicycling, passing on unicycling information, making or creating gains in the sport of unicycling, and above all, making acquaintances that turn into lifelong friendships when we get together at events. There is healthy debate about serious subjects and some not so serious subjects. If you would like to participate at this level of conversation, my advice, if you would take it, is to take as much of a pass on the vulgarity and insults as you can however hard it may be, don't take subtle humor or absurdity as personal insults and, don't tip over any beehives, enjoy the forums and gather some honey. If you are unwilling or unable to accept my advice or comments, then I'll shake the dust from my sandals and move on. Respectively, Bruce |

noone has invited me to any events. I wanna camp out in peoples backyards and barbecue and go to uni events. Why do you all leave me so lonely when I am one of your kind. Dammit I am a unicyclist!
God Bless

I have lost any respect for you I ever had. If you were 18, this would have been halarious, because i would have assumed it was sarcasm, or that you had an idea of how rediculus it sounds. you are 14, you need to get a grip kid. keep going at life like that, and your not going to go anywhere. by the way, much respect to yoopers (sp?) for handling it the way you did, thanks for not turning this fourm into the cespool that justin is heading towards. Justin, i swear to you, I have had more practice insulting people and using 4 letter words and combinations of 4 letter words that you have never even dreamed of. dont even start with me.

Bruce,
Thanks for handling that in an adult manner. My fondness of you grows more and more each day. I'm throwing this over to "Just Conversation" so the rest of the people don't need to see this trash.

Here's one thing I like about you. Whenever I see a post that gets me angry, before I can respond with how annoyed the post makes me, you respond with the most level-headed and judicious response possible and still set the guy straight. I applaud you, Bruce the level-headed. Sned: I think you, like all other unicyclists, are invited to most of this stuff (sort of a blanket invitation to all unicyclists). The problem is, to attend, you usually have to buy a plane ticket. This reason, combined with available vacation time, is why I won't be at the California Muni Weekend.

OK, jus-10 im 14 too, but that doesn mean that when a person makes a joke that was harmless i start my own post and tell everybody to shut up. I, and obviously not you, are very interested in what people(like bruce and john) have to say about unicycling. I wouldnt imagine you are the perfect unicyclist and there are tons of guys here that might not be perfect, but still, in my mind these are the people that have the best views on unicycling. this forum is where i get help with tricks, because i know people are going to respond. dont trash the forum because of a harmless joke

One of the problems with email/usenet/forum communication is that you can't see the other people you are communicating with. All you have is plain text. You can't see the body language or other cues to better get of gist of their intent. Communicating in writing is hard. Poorly written posts are open to a lot of misinterpretation.
What bothered people in your first post is what appeared to be intentional cryptic misspelled abbreviated words. That kind of stuff makes it very hard to read a message. A few accidental misspelled words in a post will usually fly on by (you can usually find plenty of typos in my posts), but intentional cryptic abbreviated words will annoy people. Look at it this way. Thousands of people will be reading what you post. Don't waste their time by making it harder to read and comprehend what you're trying to write. It takes only a couple of extra minutes to write a good post. It's much better for you to spend a couple of extra minutes writing a better post than to cause thousands of other people to each spend extra time trying to figure out what you are trying to say. Pretend like your English teacher reads the forum. The other problem is that the forum seems to have developed some cliquish behaviors. That's not good because it is that kind of behavior that scares people from posting and will hurt the forum. The cliques know who they are. Lighten up on the newbies. A diplomatic reply explaining the rules of netiquette is better than dogpiling on with a bunch of harsh posts. People also need to keep in mind that this is a PG forum (with the exception of the inevitable posts about how to avoid sitting on the naughty bits). Young kids may be reading some of the posts here. Let's try to keep things clean.

Re: shut up
I have said one or two irritating things in this group,
but have not used the sort of immature and unnecessary insults you are making. They are unacceptable. Ironically, most people avoid swearing because there are children here. > no its not im actually 14 but this Is that your age or your IQ? Grow up or get lost. Arnold the Aardvark PS: I don't care about your spelling, but at least make your posts in a close approximation to English. |

i've been thinking about how usuallyy unicyclers are seen as the geek or the circus freek. you have managed to give out a whole new option. i agree with most of the stuff said here, i'm 14 too, but you seem to have a mix with a 10 year old's attude and a 18 year olds vocublary. if you don't have anything anyone will care about then follow your advice and shut up. if you have something that will offend others then also shut up. I have seen more swears in your posts then in anone elses. I admit that i swear, but it's in joking around, and never on sites like this. About your spelling, i'm in french, i hate french, i'm bad at french and it's taking longer to translate your posts then any assinment i've had to date. even with my translation of the first post, i only figured it out with the second post. If i had a muni i'd rather let it sit in the corner then sell it to you, since, based on your posts, you's probably throw it at someone.
For everyone else, i offer infinate respect for your posts and apolgies if anyone got offended. cya |

Do you mean that you're in French class, and your assignment is to translate this forum from English into French? OUCH! I hated French in high school, too. My French teacher's name was Morgan (go figure!), and she always had sticky gobs of spit at the corners of her mouth. Good luck with French!
