I‘m not really interested in these types of effect.
When I started learning, I was expecting pain from UPDs. Never dreamed I would ever encounter effects from staying on too long.

ok true enough. I had something like that yesterday when riding 10K. But half way I decided to stand on the pedals more, getting up from the seat for a short time and then shift a bit before sitting down and all was ok again.
And it also depends on the saddle. Some saddles are more comfy than others. You will have to find that out for yourself.

Who says that trials uni's aren't good for distance. I just rode 10KM on my trials uni (19" I believe). Took me 1 hour and 15 or so minutes. Earlier this week I rode it in 45mins with a 32". When I got back at the car I thought I could just try to hop before dismounting, but my legs were all mushy as soon as I came down I nearly collapsed like a jelly pudding ^_^ A good work-out.

I use my trials uni mostly for accompanying my wife, when she does jogging. Sometimes I do little hops while riding, hoping they become more natural. Never managed a double hop, though. Single hops even work after an hour, but I haven‘t tried yet after more than 20 minutes of continuous riding.

Learning is slow, and I still feel and look like a kook, but I also think I have come a long ways if I don't get frustrated by not picking up something after trying for two+ weeks (idling and riding backwards)! I can jump up on cinder blocks, (I scratched my rim up, though, kinda p'd me off, but I'm sure there will be more character marks to come!) I don't think they make the green rim anymore... I guess I will hafta lace the black rim up with some colored spoke nipples next wheel. Anyways, here are some vids, hoping I don't look so wobbly, less pre-hops next time and get a better non-butt angle (for the viewers' sake) and maybe try some stairs!

Thank you for being inspiring!

(Hope it's okay to put here--felt like it wasn't enough footage to put in the "Unicycling Videos" section)

I didn't see the kook

I didn't see a kook, great progress. I'm right there also. I have been trying to get up and down steps/curbs/small drops etc. That is a Great Demo. It's fun to see where everyone is in the process of riding. I like the props. Jeff c

Wow well done. I have a ways to go to do that with my hops.

Thanks, Jeff and Setonix! I like seeing everyone's progress as well. I'm looking forward to keeping riding. I guess if it were less challenging, learning would be less rewarding. This forum is an interesting time capsule of learning this sport.

In NL, Roos from UnicycleForever, has rented a gym for 3 months which she makes available to jugglers and unicyclists. I went to a 2 hour training session yesterday and focused mainly on hopping. I had brought my 29" and 20".
After what Kunstrasen had said in the Tips on Hopping-thread about trying to only hop to rebalance yourself, I've paid attention to that and I managed to do it consistently with both wheelsizes. I'm very happy with this, because it will make riding in the forest a lot easier too. Now when stopping to hop, I don't lean backwards too far anymore which had resulted in dismounts. Yesterday was a great leap forward.

Had my own hopping successes today:

1. 5 hops in a row and continuing my ride afterwards
2. ride, stop, 180*-degree-turn with 3 hops and ride back the direction I came from.
I’m really surprised by the second feat, which I managed five times.
