Sounds cool! Unfortunately I have to work security for this huge free concert at UCSB that saturday. I'll be looking forward to the photos from the event though.

Imortant information:

If you are competing PRO you must get there an hour before the comp starts to register. You will want to get there earlier to watch the sport and beginnner riders i suppose. Either way, theres gonna be fun rides for sure no matter what time you get there.

Road trip!

I'll be there! I did, in fact, convince my parents to willingly sit in a car for many hours on my behalf. Can't wait!

So if you're practicing for it, does that mean you're coming? And will you ride 24" or 20"?

just talked to JP. ALL the lines for the unicycles will be chosen from bike trials lines. we will be riding under bike trials rules which should prove to be more social and more fun compared to most uni comps. cant wait.
oh the big red bull tent will be there along with a bunch of other sponsors. come prove your ranking within the USA. its going to be sick. remember its on may 16th so head on out. you guys should have my email so we can all hook up.
let me know if you would like to participate in the fun rides we are organizing. josephfpu@yahoo.com
come and make it out. this is also the place to find others to share hotels etc so just start hooking up guys.
ridiculous fun will be the only way to describe this event im sure of it.

Good question. What *are* the Bike Trials rules, or rules for the competition? Does anyone know of an online place to check them out? If not, the basics would be good to know. I know they've changed over the years as reported by Kris Holm.

I wish I could be down there to take pictures, but May's a very busy month and I probably won't be able to make it.

pedal grabs and crank grabs are just fine.
you may only have a go at a section only once. You might think this is unfair, but thats the rules for everyone. the combination of skill and consistency wins. this is also safer because you cannot just throw yourself at a line and hope you make it through, it must be calculated because you only have one shot. Rules like this means that we have a more social competition with a group of riders going around together with one judge and doing lines, rather than a frantic mess with judges at each line. ive done it before and its awesome.
MAY 16th!
come watch history as uni trials officially breaks into the national bike trials competition for the first time in the USA.

we might be switching the dab rules up a bit but that will be explained later. the way bike trials dabs are set up isnt really relevant for uni trials a foot dab is 1 point and a hand dab is 5. so we might switch those around but im not sure yet. did you decide on that yet joe?

Well I've gotten fairly used to doing at least backyard trials on my KH trials, but I would probably bring both, including my 36er. It'd be cool if they had a seniors trials category!

there will be a beginner category. You may compete there if you dont feel comfortable with the pro lines. I am assuming there will be some high risk and nearly impossible lines for pro.
