Are they going to have separate racing categories for the 10k and marathon for geared and ungeared?

There's Limited and Unlimited.

Limited riders must ride a 24"or lower, and have cranks no shorter than 125mm. (assuming they are over 10 years old)

Unlimited riders can just ride whatever the hell they want. A geared uni would fit under this category.

At least this is how they did it in the past few years.

It's up to the organizers. I'm sure the racing officials are well aware of the growth of the geared uni population, and how they are starting to dominate in road races. But then there's the complexity of wheel size vs. gearing. What about a geared 24"? Make them compete with geared 36ers?

The nice thing about a category called Unlimited is that whoever wins really wins. If you keep subdividing the field, you might be left wondering who's really the fastest...

Both Flat and Street will have the same rules as Wuko? if yes I may go

Not sure, hard to choose between a roadtrip in Europe and only 5 days in USA!

Flat will have the same rules as euc/wuko (2 min. prelims, then battles for finals). The street rules used at euc haven't been added to the IUF rulebook (at least not yet) so I don't know which format it will be.

NICE! The new flat rules are way better...

One question, If I go to NAUCC, am I able to compete and able to be THE NORTH AMERICA CHAMPION? Or only north americans can take the title?

That's really important!

Hey Pedro,
To participate in the NAUCC first you have to join the USA, (Unicycling Society of America) is open to anyone, in any country but to get a title you have to be a resident of the USA or Canada. But you are always allowed to compete in most events. Take a look at the USA website here for more information.
Abraços!
Carlos

Andy and Irene Cotter are planning the Muni competition and the non-competive "fun" rides. They are currently are obtaining permission to use trails for the competition. Once permission is finalized, we'll post the muni sites.

Muni Events for Nationals

Events:
MUni Cross Country (1 miles (beginner), 3 miles (Advanced), 10 miles (Expert))
MUni Uphill (both an advanced and expert course)
MUni Downhill (both an advanced and expert course)
Muni Speed Event (timed, much like the IUF obstacle course but geared toward MUni)
MUni Coker cross country (only can compete on a unicycle with effective wheel size bigger then 30")
Techincal Muni (falls count)

Locations/Timing
Murphy Hanrehan Park in Savage (Friday, July 31) http://www.morcmtb.org/wiki/index.php/Murphy-Hanrehan
MUni Cross Country (all three distances can be done there)
Muni Speed Event (MUni Obstacle Course)
MUni Coker cross country

Battle Creek (Saturday, August 1)
MUni Uphill/Dowhill

Lebanon Hills http://www.morcmtb.org/trailreviews/metro/lebanon.html
Technical MUni (date to be determined)
Note: This is our favorite place in the Twin Cities to go MUni riding.

Overall MUni Expert:
As with last year, there will be an overall MUni North America Champion.

Fun Rides:
Every day that there isn't a MUni competition there will be MUni rides. Some of the rides will be at the competition places so out-of-towners can get familiar with the course. Other rides will be at places that have their own (fun) competition. The idea is to have lots of MUni options.

If you want to look at some single track trails in the Twin Cities, this link is a good start
http://www.morcmtb.org/trailreviews/metro/index.html

As we are still in the planning stages, some events/locations may change. As we lock in the events we will post them here.

Wow, nice muni line up. Thanks Andy

I hope the uphill/downhill works at Battlecreek Park. It's a great place to ride.

Irene and I are going through all the possible places to ride in the cities trying to get a good schedule setup. One of the ideas we throught some people might be interested in is the MUni course at our farm.

So would anybody be interested in riding at our farm for a fun ride at Nationals?

Pros:
* 2 mile course that is designed for MUni (can be a bit technical at times)
* Bathroom facilities right there (our house is close by)
* A full Trials course is also there (although some stuff might be used at Nationals)

Cons:
* slightly over one hour drive to get there, so two hours total in the car (in Rapid City, it seems we drove that far for a ride or two)
* local riders may not be as interested as they come out for DOTFMW (Down on the Farm MUni Weekend)

Comments?
