Yes long cranks and maybe(?) only one with brakes. I guess that makes sense.

5 year old boy seeing me riding past: "He's riding on one wheel! How is he doing that?"

Made me laugh.

Sometimes when I see people noticing me, I try to beat them to the punch.

"Tomorrow I'm going to try 2 wheels"

Corny I know.

I do the same. I would say something like "Look I can even do it hands free."

And I should really just give a loud "Booh!" with both hands towards those scared looking people as they pass me by.

"What the thing are you?" – from several guys in the city park.
"Where is chain?" – some time later.

"What the thing you are?" may be more correctly.
My English is not so good, sorry.

Oh yeah! I forgot that was one of the reasons for longer cranks back in the day... Now you only need them for going UP the hill...
But my DM had (relatively short) 150s on it; only size that one ever had. In 2003 I got my Wilder, with 170s. Later I changed those to 160s, which were still too long and finally 145s, which are still on there now.

That's wild. I don't think I've ever had a unicycle with longer than 145's on... Both my 36er and 29er came with that size pre-installed, and my cheapo eBay special 24" I started on had 125's on I think!
