I can't imagine how gulf oil could get into Ponchartrain

I used to live in New Orleans. Ponchartrain Lake is the north boundary of the city. I think it drains into the Miss. river. Even if it doesn't, the Miss. river has a powerful flow. There is no way water or oil can move north up the Miss. river. It has no tides, it is always going out, maybe 3-4 MPH.
