Anyone ridden on water?

Frozen that is...

Found a nice patch of the river that was frozen thick enough to ride on. Sort of surreal to think there's 6-8 feet of running water under my wheel.

(I turned off my music so I could hear any ice cracking... )

I had to be near Green Lake right before Christmas and I had often thought it would be amusing to dress up like Santa Claus and ride around Green Lake and hand out candy canes, make people smile, whatever...just roll with it. Never could quite summon the courage to do this but I finally did it. Turns out it was easy and I laughed the whole time.

I got this picture back from a professional clown that was performing on his unicycle at Sea Tac Airport earlier that day and just happened to be walking the lake trail. Small world.

People really enjoyed this stunt and seeing "Santa" ride around Green Lake
handing out candy canes.

I found it amusing how many people would ask: "Are you Greg Harper!"

Oops... to late to edit. I just wanted to put some photos from my way to work today. It finally started snowing yesterday and I haven't prepared my bike yet, so I took the uni for the commute.

This is from a week ago when we had the largest snowfall for about 5 years. I only got 50 meters or so before I gave up...

Cool piccies gang
Is riding in snow similar to riding on sand?

Killian You're brave riding on ice. I'd worry about losing my uni

Snow is really fun because it's constantly changing. What's too soft today may be perfect for riding tomorrow.

I found that I've come to really enjoy snow riding. Haven't ridden and ST yet, but the farm roads around my house (dirt) are a blast. Once someone's driven on them, they get hardpacked and you can bomb them. But if you find some fresh snow, it's like resistance training! I've found that I'm better with my 137 holes as opposed to 165's in the snow.

The whole riding on the river thing was quite enlivening to say the least.

Hey Killian, why do you figure that is? Do you like the shorter cranks regardless of snow, even if it's somewhat hard pushing?
