First ride on GUni

First 'real' ride on the 29er Guni, what a weird experience! Definitely going to take me a few weeks to tame this

EDIT: Image removed until I can fix the size...

Weird is an understatement. I couldnt ride it all at first. But then again, I forgot that iI was essentially trying to power and keep balance a 54"
The 1st gear was nearly easy to get used to.

Yeah, I'm pretty much used to the Schlumpf's weirdness now (I can shift both ways without too much drama, and barely even notice the play in the pedals) but the weird part for me is, I'll pedal quick on the high gear and get my legs used to it, then I'll drop to the low gear and basically lose it because my legs are pushing FAR too hard, making me feel like I'm back to that time of learning to ride when your arse won't stay planted

Then I'll get used to the low gear, try shifting up again and go through the whole process in reverse!

My exact sentiments. It psyches your brain out. The brain's muscle memory confusion to the proper amount of leverage needed for a smooth cadence.

You'll get used to it with more and more switches. Try riding a route that requires you to switch often like commute with traffic lights or mixed offroad.

And as a bonus, some photos from our muni ride nearby Krakow a week ago. It seems most riding ones got blurry.

GearedUnicycle. Usually with a 2 speed geared hub made by Schlumpf.

Video of my latest ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qki7YlrWusY Originally I wanted to do a really nice video of the whole downhill run, but there were way to many mosquitoes, so 2 short clips of my favourite parts are all I have for now.

As Finnspin said, Geared Uni And yes I'm using the Schlumpf 2-speed hub.

To Vookash:

I took your advice, and yesterday went on a 40-mile ride on one of these 'close all the streets to cars' type events in my city - had some great fun dodging MAMIL's and 3-year-olds with the Schlumpf! I think that ride alone prepared me for the Guni more than anything else...

Photo of my recent ride… I have been working on freemounting my 36er the last few weeks. In reading on this forum it seems the key is just a lot of practice. John Foss implied that a freemount is quite easy; he wrote to just follow instructions and once successful, simply repeat 1000 times. That seems to be sound advice, I have only got to about half of the 1000 but am progressing well. I’m now hitting about 3 of 4 with several constant runs of over 10 in a row. What fun.

Having a little fun on Galbraith in the early morning sun while the shadows are still long and the sea breeze cool…
