You're on, Marshall.

The rider list looks like Bruce, (Sarah), Shannon, Kevin, Tad, Peter, AnSo, Justin, Marshall, Steve and me so 10 or 11 riders. I bought three Discover day passes and Kevin has an annual pass so we're good to park four cars in the parks system parking lots. All other vehicles will be left at the Issaquah Park and Ride where the parking is free.
Sorry that J.D., Dave and James had to bail. Maybe next year, eh? Remember your BRIGHT light!

We had a nice ride on a delightful day today. Eleven riders showed up, four that I hadn't met before. An'So brought Marshall in from Vancouver and Bruce Dawson, as usual, helped to maintain the international integrity of the ride.
A personal first for me: I UPDed in the tunnel. It was right at the end when there was plenty of light, too. I must be getting old. Oh, that's right, that's the point of these rides. In the low quality tunnel photo, left to right: Marshall (before his dramatic, bloody UPD on Shannon's geared 36), An'So (annoyingly flawless rider and excellent house guest as usual), Jason (seated, who none of us could keep up with even though he was on a 29), Tad (first daring attempt at a distance ride and as it turns out my neighbor), Steve (always cool in his bright garb), Kevin (who gave me a splendid shirt, a photograph of which he may post), Sarah (who was even faster on her blazing yellow 29er this year), the birthday boy (in his Scarlett jersey from IntoTheBlue), Bruce (unsuccessfully testing the IHD ride as a cure for Mint Juleps), Shannon (always glad to loan a geared 36 to a suicidal Canadian), and Peter (who decided that if he could ride a 20" 8 miles, he could ride a 29" 25 miles).

Some Pics.
Strange no one ever wants to share the birthday cupcake after Harper blows out the candle.

It was so nice of Sarah Dawson to bake a birthday cupcake for me. Although I offered repeatedly, she would not share it with me. Odd, that.

Since no one saw the incident in question I still maintain that it was a bear attack. Despite the mishap it was still a great ride and it was very nice to meet you all!

Looks like a great day and a great ride. Sorry to miss it this year, although that just means that now I've attended the same number of Harper Day rides as Harper himself. I'll try to keep pace going forward.
Harper, what is it with these fast punks on 29-ers? Seems like there are more of them every year. You really should be taking them out in the tunnel, so the fact you've started falling in there now instead, well that's a disturbing sign.

Who has the photos of Marshall's bear attack incident?

More pictures
I've uploaded three important pictures. One is a zoomed in picture of Sarah and I holding flat Maria at the entrance to the tunnel. Another is what appears to be a zombie we met on the trail -- or it's Marshall after the attack of the 36" bear. The third is the unicycles at the end -- and notice the beautiful rainbow made out of materials on hand.

My geared 36er comes equipped with an ejection seat. It automatically activates at around 20 mph. I've tested it at 23 mph. Marshall is the second tester of the seat.

I really wish I could have been with you all.
Happy Birthday Greg! So, did I read that right? Harper took my place as the tunnel fall guy?
