Ive done two drops around 5.5 to 6 feet, both to flat. One was too concrete, one was on a muni ride w/ Unicorn in Israel. The only style of riding which i really like drops in is MUNI. It has no place in street really, unless you flip/twist/spin off of it.

I like drops because they are just plain fun, a thrill and looks awesome! I think you can classify roll hopping big stair sets as drops also; the 8 set I successfully jumped a while back was not only about 4.5-5 feet high, but I had to project myself about 7 feet OUT just to clear all 8!

I like making videos with a variety of stuff, including drops from interesting structures. The average person watching also gets a huge kick out of seeing a big drop; it's just exciting to do *and* to watch!

Well i, as a tech street rider, prefer riding light, which usually makes things more fragile... You with your ultra wide and heavy rim dont have to worry about that haha.

edit: i do think big sets are good though...

I usuallt take a tape measure with me for muni. The drop was 10' 4".
I didn't get it on film because I just have a sucky digi camera that wastes up batteries. I'll try to get it next time though.

I think that's the Lobotomizer (Circus trail, Fromme mountain, North Shore). It takes ridiculous chops to huck (and survive) a 14-footer in a muni situation.

In that vein, just about every move of Circus is ridiculously (stupidly?) scary, and unfortunately also very much in need of maintenance. Freeride biking seems to have veered away from precision tech (raised skinnies, raised teeter-totters, big but do-able drops) and gone to just plain fast and big with the advent of huge shocks.

Also, similar but older thread:

I mean anything bigger than 5.5 feet haha. I was surprised your 36er held up though. Anyways, i guess 4 foot drops are fun, but only if you at least shifty or 180 haha. Shifties should be done more in muni drops...

Good idea...I'll do that in my next video. for some reason though, I find shifties (and tire grabs) to be much easier for me when doing *staitc drops*.

Can't seem to do it with rolling hops/drops. Maybe because I get more intial height on static than rolling, so I have more "airtime" to do it.
