I didn't say they were there against their own will, it looked like most of them wanted to be there. But every camp-type event I've been to or heard about (from friends that went) is much more strict than school. At school you can pretty much do whatever you want and get away with it, but camps are different because they don't have to follow all of the same rules that public schools do.

You talking about the same ZERO tolerence schools we have in the US? Or are you going to some special school on the border?

Doesn't mean anything, could be for a skit or play.

Could be...but how 'bout this interview with Becky Fischer?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JECP9qzjmF0

She wants young kids to be ready to lay down their lives for the cause of Jesus Christ...theres plenty more vids of people associated with this Jesus Camp on youtube, do a search for it.

After outlawing the Boy Scouts in all the lands Germany controlled, the Hitler Youth appropriated many of the Scouts' activities, though changed in content and intention. A limited amount of cruelty of the older boys toward the younger was tolerated and even encouraged, since it was believed this would weed out the unfit and harden the rest.

Members of the Hitler Youth wore paramilitary uniforms very similar to those of the Nazi Party, and the ranks and insignia of the Hitler Youth were similar to the ranks and insignia of the Sturmabteilung. Many of the boys' activities resembled soldier training, including: throwing grenade-like objects, crawling under barbed wire, learning to jump off high platforms into the sea and climbing over tall obstacles."

So what is similar in that video? You are obvioulsy seeing something that I don't. I see a little Jesus freak, not someone who is hell bent on destroying other races, engaging in paramilitary training, no uniforms, no physical training, no learning how to use weapons, no hate speech.

"Background: The Nazis were a totalitarian movement that wanted to involve the party in every aspect of life. The churches were a particular problem, since they too had a faith that claimed every aspect of life. Although the Nazi platform favored a "positive Christianity," its leaders viewed the church as an enemy that ultimately would need to be dealt with."

Maybe he's not bent on destroying others, but he does see 'others' as an unacceptable different kind of person who makes him feel yucky. So maybe they're not teaching hatred at these camps, but somehow this particular kid did learn intolerance of other beliefs through his religion.

Why does Jesus need an army?

Edit: Reading that back, the question seems a little funny with the quote. I didn't mean to guard against the Hitler Youth. My question is what do they expect their army to be for?

I've heard interviews with the filmmakers, and it seems that their intent was to make a very honest documentary and just show the camp for what it is and let the viewer form opinions based on that.

The trailer however is made to sell the film, and the main audience for documentary, especially theatrically, tends to be liberal. So while the trailer seems fairly liberally biased the film itself is probably not so much. We really view such things through our own lens.

The people at the camp probably see the film and think it's a wonderful way to spread their message.

Let me clear a few things up.

"Army for Jesus" is referring to a group of ppl who will stand up for biblical values not letting the world's decay in morality overcome them.

"This means war" is not talking about physical battle but battle against immorality, against ungodly priciples.

"Giving their life for Jesus" does not mean physical death but it is about making a decision to follow Jesus' teachings and living by them.

In a world where many people can no longer distinguish right from wrong, and the mentors of today's youth model lifestyles of complete moral distain, this
group is trying "to teach them in the way they should go" (Ps32:8) skits, songs, and dances are used as it's a great way of learning.

That's the problem with many people today is that they don't teach their kids anything about values and right from wrong... do you think they'll learn that stuff
from the media that's shoved down their throat everyday? It is a parents job to teach their children right from wrong.

I don't know the group that's doing this camp but even if they are a little off base on some items at least they are doing something positive.

Madam, in Eden I'm Adam

Good movie. A thought: The systemic authority of Christianity will erode under those internal contradictions that force all free thinkers into reality against what only abstract social myths hold true... be careful that you aren't a fossil yourself, group think, truth and illusion are all the same to a relativist, the person that lives relative to their culture lives against their individual existence, but we're fooled in so many ways to be free from freedom.

So to update this thread: Soon after the film's completion Ted Haggard, a prominent evangelical leader and "tour guide" throughout the movie, came under scrutiny for apparently hiring a gay escort with an underlying rumor of recreational methamphetamine use.

Some religious palindromes to symbolize the flip mode of such irony:

Dogma: I am God
Madam, in Eden I'm Adam
Do geese see God?
Ah, Satan sees Natasha
Satan, oscillate my metallic sonatas!
