![]() I'll ride with unishark on the big wheels in Moab, we both have 29ers for the "hard stuff", so no sweat. But what unishark is saying, yeah, there will be some folks in attendance who may not be able to ride hard stuff, so alternatives or some walks will be important.

I didn't mean to scare people, perhaps my wording was not the best. A 29" wheel will be fine for saturday and sunday as there are many options for lines on some of the technical sections. Friday the 29" is the biggest you would even want to consider.
Walking the harder sections is always an option. I make no claim to our trails being the hardest, just probably not what you are used to. We live in a desert, the lack of water causes few plants to grow which stabilize the soil. This leads to loose dirt and rocks. I warn of the larger wheels because tire availability (width and tread pattern) are very lacking for these trail conditions. Also I find the larger wheel much more difficult to control in a skid. Traction is already lacking with the big knobby tires no sense in purposefully reducing traction further. Friday will be the hardest in the technical sense but also the shortest, walking the whole thing is not a problem, although it shouldn't be necessary. The vast majority of sections on Saturday and Sunday will have easier lines, and the technical sections are short 10-20 ft. with a few exceptions. I just want people to have fun, if you have the option of a smaller wheel why would you not bring it to ensure that you get to ride more of the technical sections? From Tom: Quote:

Josh S wouldn't bring an accordion to a rubber chicken fight, and you shouldn't either.
(I am not a comedian, and this is not polka advice)

However, since I have neither an accordion nor a rubber chicken, I'll bring a feathered cap

Oh, let's stop fiddling around and enjoy some good old muni, whatever instrument you choose to use.

Hey, are we going to do any "gear swappage" during this event?
I have a bunch of stuff including some riding shoes (sz 13's), even free stuff (oh boy!). Anyway, I'm gonna stash it in my roof box.

^^Looking forward to the gear swap!
I will be bringing the Giraffe and Juggling stuff too. Any club passers out there? Once again I will be at the camp ground. |

One week prep
Hey friends and rubber chicken fighters. We are now just one week and counting from your Munifest Destiny! (echo)
If you have not done so already, now is the time to follow these 5 easy steps: 1. Buy Unicycling Society of America annual membership! It's only $20 and will cover you (and us) in terms of event liability insurance (http://uniusa.org/membership/). Please think of it as your event registration fee. 2. Tell me about your travel plans. I.e., When do you arrive, where are you staying, and when you do leave? If you're still not sure, please let me know that too, so I can answer any questions. 3. Read and print out our event webpage. It contains itinerary, directions, packing list, etc. 4. If you need to call me once you're here, email us now at admin@nmuni.com, and I will reply with my cell number. 5. Convince a friend that it's not too late to come with you to Munifest Destiny! (echo). We still have a couple free spots at club member houses. An equipment swap is a good idea. Whatever hasn't already been swapped individually before Sunday can be done at the Sunday trials comp. See ya soon! |

On that note, I wonder if anyone would consider swapping their 29" for my 36"...

I want to remind everyone of a few things:
First: Albuquerque sits at a mile high, and all of the trials that we will be riding are above the city. If you are comming from sea level please bring extra water and don't drink too much. If you do plan on drinking (which I condone ) please drink water while you drink. Second: This is going to be an fun weekend, we will all do our best to make sure awesomeness ensues. |
