OK i am going to review my opinion of all my tires i have ridden in a timely manor.
6'3-4
210 lbs
Aggressive hopper
Natural terrain

All mounted on a koxx street rim with a 3in tube

CC: I took it out of the box and its light. but it has thin side walls with the tread has a harder casting than the side walls. I pumped it up and found a PSI i like. I rode around and it felt good. I went to do a hop and the tire folded over. I put more air in it, and still got fold. I then once i put more air in it the tire became to hard to hop so i couldn't find a good psi so i sold the tire.

Nimbus Blizzard: I got this one half used from a friend. it has stiff side walls and casting and quite heavy. I mounted it up and found a good bouncing PSI and once i started to ride it a bit i went to side hop and it compresses and decompressed with no hop it was weird.

Try-All sticky light: This is the lightest feeling tire of the bunch but is had a good feeling side wall and tread. I started doing side hops and it felt great the 2nd best one out of the bunch. The only reason i quit riding it is because it felt thin.

Try-All sticky: this is the tire im running now. Its stiff but light with unreal traction. it bounces good and not super picky on PSI. it has nice side walls and tread. I have ridden it for about 2 months and all i can say is perfection.

I am looking for another tire to get next spring i am looking a monty race light or a MEC what would you recommend.

Hey guys,

as anyone ever tried the Impact Trial tire ?

I finally jumped in an building a 19in wheelset and as I wanted a white tire other than the Blizzard (because of the mixed reviews) and there was no TryAll available at Renegade.

I will try to provide some feedback once my wheelset is up and running but it will be mostly with my MUni background

The Impact trials tire looks identical to the Blizzard. The tread pattern is exactly the same, and on websites both are listed at the same weight. It could be made with a different rubber compound or be different in some other way, but I would guess that it will perform the same as the Blizzard.

I've had my Nimbus Blizzard for about 6 months now. The tread is holding up fine, but after hearing how poorly it performs compared to other tyres, along with it's excessive weight I feel like I should get something new. Only problem is, I'm kinda in the mindset that I need to get another white tyre. I've got an eclipse frame and red Nimbus inferno rim so the white tyre works really well with the style and I feel a black tyre would just make the whole thing look too sinister.

I have managed to find a white try-all sticky light available for around £50 (converted) but that's really steep and I feel like I'd destroy the tread on the tyre way too fast. 6'8" (2.03m) and around 14st (87kg).

On a side note, how good is the cyko-light, it's the same pattern as the blizzard so I'm hoping the sidewalls are equally as strong?

If the Blizzard is holding up fine I would just stick with it, especially if you aren't having any trouble with grip, bounce, etc.

I would guess that the Cyco-Lite would have lighter flimsier sidewalls due to it's lighter weight but they may have pulled off a materials and design miracle while keeping the cost down.

It took me more than a year and half to wear through a try-all sticky. They're pretty durable. It depends on how you ride though.

What does wear through mean to you?

To me it means the center of the tyre has become a slick with no tread depth left. I do actually know a guy who's had his for 2 years so far, but he doesn't really do much riding on it. The main concern for me is, I've only really had trials experience on the Blizzard so I don't know how I'd find the extra bounce and flex in the sidewalls of a lighter tyre. Would a tyre like the try-all require a bit of time to get used to or would it just pretty much feel instantly better out of the box?

I went from a 20 inch freestyle running around 45-50psi to a try-all light. It took maybe an hour or two to get used to but then it was miles better.

If you're serious about getting a decent tyre I'd sack off the white tyres. Don't use the Nimbus tyres if you want decent bounce. The CC, Monty or Try-all are definitely the best trials tyres by a long way. I wouldn't touch the Blizzard or Cyko-lite with a barge pole (Sorry Roger )!
