It isn't better than my G26 in most conditions and one of the main reasons I got it was for the disc brake, which I can now have on the G26 with KH Spirits available. I also don't like the Larry that much, so... It is a very cool uni though, and it looks absolutely badass! But I'll sell it and move on to KH Spirits.

Rather than make a new "ride & review" thread, I'll just post them here.

This is a new ride & review I did for the Nimbus Oracle.

Don't sell your Oregon quite yet! There's a new tire in town, big and bad, 29 x 3", they call it the Knard

It only fits one production frame, you guessed right, The Oregon

Thank You Surly!

Btw, I'm glad nimbus put the disc on the *left* side, since I hop to the right, and would not be able to pedal/crank grab or grind, without risking damage to the disc!

And thanks for the more than 6,500 views and all the comments on this thread!

I was going for a ride on my Oregon today. I discovered while changing pedal positions on the dual hole cranks that once again two long cracks had formed by the vent holes on the crown. That's my second frame now. I decided to go back and take my KH26 instead not willing to risk an accident while the frame snaps through mid ride.

I guess I'm done with the Oregon now.

hey, ok, so i just called to order the oregon, made up a with 29" rabbit hole rim & new surly tyre. only to be told that very soon nimbus will be releasing a 29" oracle with the new tyre, disc brake etc etc........& with an alloy frame so much lighter than the oregon......hmmm, so now i'm really confused.....& where does all this leave the KH29?
any views welcome.....

New 29" Oracle? Great, could be my next uni. I hope it'll be whole black (or yellow rim) because I really didn't like red 26" and 24" is too small size for me.

I doubt the Oracle will fit the new huge 29+ tire, so if that's really what you want, Oregon is probably still the way to go. However, I'd personally take the Oracle.

Don't discount the Oracle 29 fitting a Knard, there is a possibility it'll have the clearance...meanwhile the KH 29 is being outfitted with Spirit cranks. The Oracle and the Oregon are good buys for the money. Personally I'd stay with the Oregon for two reasons:

Wider hub with disc brake and capacity to run tall and fat tires.

I plan to have two wheelsets for my two super wide hubbed unis, then I can swap them out at will, so far I have a 36/32, next it'll be a 26 x 4/29 x 3.

Life is good

I suppose it's possible, but since the prototype hasn't even come in yet, and the Knard is still not available, it might be too early to say. The Knard is an expensive tire, so adding it to the Oracle would really bump up the price esp if the Surly rim was added as well.

I was looking at some stats on the Knard and it appears to be about 15-20% larger than the RR 2.4, so not a real 3" tire, more like a 2.6-2.7, but still a fatty

Is the oregon truly a 26er or is that just the diameter of the rim?

speed wise, how much slower is the oregon than a 29" with the same length of cranks?
