"I done seen it all now. God damn. Alright man."
It was late at night, nearly midnight, and there weren't really a lot of people out, so I'm sure that contributed to the unexpectedness of the encounter. |

"You, sir, rock at life."
Why yes, yes I do rock at life, my good man! Toodley-dums to you, sir. "Does EVERY smartass like me ask you where your other wheel is?" Yes, they really do. You do not get toodley-dums OR the less awesome toodley-dees. Neither do the people who can't figure out for themselves what my handlebars are for.

A not so positive one, but it is at least very original
"Isn't it a bit dangerous to be riding that around where dogs are" me: "It depends how dangerous your dog is" I lost her reply as I rode off - I'm guessing like most dog owners she was telling me her dog wasn't dangerous, and that it was all my own fault if it ran in front of me when not on a lead (or bit me - was so tempted to get off and show her the bite mark scabs on my leg from a bike ride last week, from a dog who was "really gentle"). |

I live on a tiny island in the tropics where the wind blows constantly. With the humid, hot, salty air, we have MAJOR corrosion problems.
As I was riding my unicycle, a man said "wow, that thing is really rusted!" I was confused at first because despite its rust spots, my uni is in good condition compared to a lot of the other bikes on island, but I hesitantly agreed. My girlfriend, who was laughing, had to explain to me that he had made a joke that my bicycle had rusted in half and that's why I only have one wheel. Pretty clever.

I thought I had heard all the comments in the missing wheel category, but yesterday a woman asked me: Did you have to share with your brother?

My quote of the day was "Is that a Mountain Unicycle?" I find that I get more of the "where is your other wheel?" and "can you juggle?" when I'm riding my 36er on the road. When I'm riding my 26er off-road, most of the Mountain Bike riders (the few that don't already know me) don't crack as many jokes. They are more curious, impressed, and much more likely to try it themselves.

We were finishing up our second try on a local rail trail, when this guy asks my husband if he could try it. Hubby says sure, but it's not easy. Guy freemounts and rides away
He walked back and admitted to riding as, a kid. He still had it!

It's one of the smaller reasons that I'm really beginning to enjoy muni more and more. The MTB riders always positive comments or intelligent questions. A lot of them have heard of muni or seen pics online and are eager to chat, especially if we meet up in between trails.

Not a unicycle quote at all, but I have to share this one from today riding the tandem with my son - the one pictured here (though no extra one on the back today) ![]() "I bet you wish his legs were longer" - from a driver going past. So good he stopped to say it again in case I'd missed it. ...I presume he'd just seen the lower rear cranks, and not spotted the extra higher up set
